More like 3. I think he's an excellent coach and a very good guy, but a questionable recruiter. Not on my short list because we need a massive culture change, and Mooney is too similar to [Redacted] from a systems perspective.

No way in hell we would ever hire Pastner.
 
This reminds me of the Redskins going through coach after coach under Danny Boy Snyder. It starts at the top. No one decent will come here under this regime and even if he would RW doesn't have the good sense to hire that person. Wellman must go. That is the only way we'll get this ship pointed in the right direction. What does it cost to buy him out.
 
I don't think we'd hire Pastner either.

Mooney had two good years at Richmond and one mediocre one. He's had plenty of time. That's as good as it gets. He's not good enough.
 
Nobody else likes Gregg Marshall? He isn't my favorite.. but still.

I am not going to argue with you about Chris Mooney; we've spent enough time as it is doing that over the last few years.

He wouldn't be a big enough splash to turn this shit show around. We seem to agree on that.

Let's be real, we like everyone who isn't Bzdick. It's just a matter of how much we like everyone relative to the pool of candidates.
 
Shaka Smart and Brad Stevens are absolutely pie in the sky suggestions. There is no way in hell that we can attract either of those guys to come here. No. Way. In. Hell.

Not enough cash

How can we possibly have enough cash to pay a coach like Smart or Stevens? If we were looking next year, we would have bought out two coaches contracts in three years and we can't possibly be bringing in significant revenue through attendance. Admittedly, I know nothing of the financial workings of the athletic department, but it just seems improbable.

We have plenty of cash if the coach wins. As I showed earlier, we are paying [Redacted] about $1M/year and averaging 9000 attendance. If we average 14,000 and own the arena, we can easily afford over $3M/year and should be able to afford close to $3.5M.
 
Attendance would rise greatly with a big time hire as coach.
 
Y'all know how this plays out- we hold on to [Redacted] just long enough that all of our dream candidates land at their "dream schools" and we're left sorting through the VHS discount bin for the likes of Mike Jarvis or Ron Jirsa...
