'17 Specials & '18 Midterms Thread

ugh. just disgusting. You and PH are just talking in truisms "like you can't change the game without playing." When is it ever the candidate or party's fault?

Multiple times I've told you how to get power. The more votes you can deliver. The more power you have. You change the pols and the party if they know you can deliver. FEAR is what they act upon most often.

Saying "ugh" will never help you get to where you want to be.

You can’t change the game until you play it.

That's not how the world works. People will vote when they're motivated to vote, otherwise they wont vote. You keep putting the onus of action upon non-voters who aren't participating, rather than people actually involved in politics.

more truisms. I don't ever want to be shaming people for not voting.

They don’t vote and then nothing changes. I’m the one putting the onus on people involved in politics. What on earth do you think getting into the game means?

I reject the ridiculous notion that not voting is some admirable stance. No. Just no. Vote for the best option. Don’t be picky. Keep voting and keep participating and things will slide your way.

If those who vote for policy are determined by who gets the most votes, then those who don't vote won't have any say. It's just that simple.

Boycotting voting gives a huge advantage to those who do vote. Since you detest the actions of those in power, the only way to change is to vote them out. This can't happen if you don't vote.

It's stunning you can't comprehend this obvious concept.

You guys want to constantly live in a world where the answer is always that Democrats are the least worst option and people should always vote for the least worst option, so that you can never be forced to reckon with all the bad stuff the party does, or contemplate a world where people don't vote for them, precisely because they do bad stuff.

Who "admired" anything? Don't shoot the messenger. The truth is that there is a very large segment of America who are
who are racially and/or economically disenfranchised and many others who are mentally disassociated from political outcomes. People in poverty vote at <40% rate on average. Why would anyone who knows that expend time and energy complaining about a miniscule percentage of politically active 3rd party or protest voters? That's a stupid order of priorities, even for a meaningless online forum.

I should inspire you to vote harder to get to 60.

I reject this idea that Obama is just as bad as Trump.

I did not say that he was RJ. Jeez, stop setting up strawmen.

If you don’t vote and don’t make your voice heard, how are you going to stop them from doing bad stuff or the other side from doing even worse stuff?

So let’s say you are canvassing for your favorite DSA candidate and you talk to someone who says “I like you better than the Republicans and Democrats but I disagree with your candidate on this one thing so I’m not going to vote at all.”

Do you convince them to vote for your least bad option or say “all good man. If we don’t have the perfect candidate for you, you shouldn’t vote at all?”

No, you simply don't pay attention to anything that challenges you. I explained how you can fix the problem, but you ignore it over and over again.

You kind of avoided tuffalo's similar question by saying "that choice isn't happening." You seem to be trying to make the same point over and over again. If a certain voting bloc keeps supporting a party that continuously disappoints and abuses them, how long should they continue to give that support?

Also, voting for a democrat does not equal having my voice heard, especially in the environment where money wields tremendous power.

You didn't explain how to fix the problem. Hillary lost to Trump, and your answer is a Hillary/Tester ticket and to shame more people into voting. Your answer doesn't have any solutions to the current crises of global warming, relentless class warfare, and unchecked imperialism. If it did, we wouldn't be where we are today.

1. Socialists vote for capitalists
2. ????
3. Establishment of socialism

1. Socialists vote for the option closest to socialism.
2. Socialists run more socialist candidates and vote for them.
3. Establishment of socialism.

It’s not hard. Like I said hours ago, the right has done this effectively.
