'17 Specials & '18 Midterms Thread

I do read your posts as do many others. You have united people against you who aren't necessarily on the same side.

It is irrational for you to think any "liberals" here want to protect oil and gas profits or hospital profits nor is it rational to think Dems do either of those things or want to protect killer cops. Statements like that are outrageous and Trumpian. It's EXACTLY what he does.

I'm just getting caught up on this because I have previously ignored it. I think:

MHB and MDMH are saying they should refuse to vote for Democrat candidates and instead vote for far-left dem-socialist candidates, because that is what they want.

RJ and Ph are saying that those are wasted votes, will only assure GOP victories, and to achieve their ultimate liberal goals they need to inch the party to the left by first gaining incumbents, and then pushing the party to the left by removing centrists and running more lefties while in the majority.

Do I have it right?

If so, I think they are both right.

But if they do that, their dream policies will never be implemented.

I agree, but voting one's conscience is unimpeachable. You and Ph are thinking pragmatically, they are thinking idealistically. Neither is wrong, per se. :noidea:

edit - I tend to think like you and Ph, except for that part you said about Sr. Management being unnecessary or some shit.

No, I wouldn't ever say that. I vote in every election, because I still believe in electoralism (it's still real to me dammit!)

What I am saying is clear: There are a shit load of Americans who dont vote, and the Democratic party isn't taking the necessary steps to increase turnout and win those votes.

Take for instance ITC, who outright says that fighting for the voting rights of felons is not worth Democratic political capital - an outright disgusting opinion.

ok, thanks for clarifying.

What I said was CEOs and senior management are grossly overpaid in relation to employees. I went further to say paying rank and file employees more was actually a way to increase profits and pay as employees across the country would have more purchasing power.

i didn't say "not worth". i just said lower on the totem pole.

Dems do bad shit.
Voters vote for Dems.
"It's irrational to think liberals support those things."

But that's not insulting to Chris.

It's insulting to say "stop being dumb?"

It's insulting that ChrisL literally did not participate at all in a discussion, and then when you completely whiff on reading/understanding my posts, or constantly twist my words, he'd rather jump into to a conversation, seemingly to defend you, rather than try to defend his brand of liberalism. It's telling just how difficult it is to defend the actions of the party, when no one wants to do so.

Your Guardian article is lazy and full of shit. It is written poorly and ascribes the hyperbolized actions of a few to all which is total BS.

Go ahead and point out something that is wrong. Democrats absolutely protect the interests of oil gas, healthcare profits, and killer cops. I don't even know how to argue with someone who denies that.

There are SOME bad people in EVERY group. As POLICY, none of those positions exist.

RE: Oil and gas- Obama raised CAFE standards which would have cut oil company profits had Trump not rescinded them. He also cut off drilling in more square miles than anyone in history. He promoted renewables more than any POTUS in history which would also not protect oil and gas company profits. It would dramatically cut them. But don't be bothered by facts.

Perfection isn't going to happen. If it did exist, we wouldn't need politicians or cops.
