2017-18 Men's College Basketball Thread (NWT)

I have a feeling Jay Williams is doing something ok for himself.

I bet he makes good money at ESPN. Probably enough to afford med school.

rat complaining after game that they havent practiced and have no depth. really? he truly is the biggest dipshit in the world.

The reason they don't have depth is 100000% on Ratface. He creates the team.

Duke's whole Bball program is disgusting. One and dones. NC Central degrees. Enroll whenever you want to. Fuck any reasonable attempt at supplying an academic oriented education. Duke makes a mockery of whatever we have left in regard to the student/athlete concept. Ratface is the supreme hypocrite.

Bobby Hurley brought an undefeated team into Phog Allen & beat Kansas. No matter how loyal Capel remains to Duke, Hurley is going to be K’s replacement.

Yet the media won't dare confront K about those things. They just suck up to him and continue to perpetuate the "doing it the right way" falsehood.

When all is said and done, the biggest loser in conference realignment has been New Mexico State. They went from the WAC playing Boise State, Fresno State, and New Mexico, to being stuck in the WAC playing Chicago State and Grand Canyon. All the other teams went to the Mountain West and New Mexico State was told to stay in WAC.

Clearly Chicago's Big Ten team.

Just saw something saying that Charlotte fired Mark Price. Is WFU basketball getting coaches fired also?

That program has an over-stated view of itself, but even so, Price has been a total disaster.

The year before Price took over, UNCC was #146 in the country. In the three seasons that Price has had the job they went from #193 (14-18), to #237 (13-17), and now to #267 (3-6), and an incredible 0-14 against top 100 teams. The 49er defense is particularly atrocious (#262). Just was no sign that the program was headed in the right direction. To have any chance to win at a school like Charlotte, the Coach has to be working his arse off, Mark Price made $29,709,920 in his 12 year NBA career. Given his financial stability and the daunting task to raise that after-thought commuter school to basketball prominence, doubt Price had the motivation to grind like most coaches do to give their program an edge.

FWIW, the same question could be asked of Manning, but he did start off as graduate assistant and worked his way up the coaching ranks, which gives more credence that DM's passion is coaching.

Yet Brad Lambert continues as football coach after going 1-11.

Price didn't have the depth of college coaching that Danny did, but he was an assistant coach for about 8-10 years in the NBA but only one in college. I don't it's about an "edge" for someone who has done it for so long, but coaching college is completely different animal than in the pros.

Save this quote for when Georgetown makes the NCAAT.

Thought he was gone for sure after this season. Off the top of my head, it seems like the attempt to build Charlotte football is way behind the other schools that picked up the sport in recent years (ODU, GA State).

Could have something to do with everyone in Charlotte saying, out loud, that they think it would be stupid if UNC-C started a college football program and then doing it anyway.
