Is this fools gold, or are we actually a decent football team? Did Cam ever go 2 games without taking a sack?

Decent which is much better than expected. Only one good win against the Cards but no bad losses. Should learn more after playing the Bears and Saints.

Kinda thinking 9-7 and sneak into wild card? All these young guys should be a lot better in the second half of season. The OL coach needs a raise after the shit show we’ve watched during Cam’s tenure

Yeah. 8-8 or 9-7 is reasonable. So is the playoffs. There are 10 teams with a reasonable shot at 7 playoff spots. Six wildcard contenders for 3 spots.

NFCE champ
NFCN Packers and Bears
NFCS Bucs, Panthers, Saints
NFCW everyone

We won’t be favored in many games but have a good shot at all of them except the Chiefs.

What I’ve noticed about this offense is the consistency. The last few years our offense has been so boom or bust with sacks and missed throws. This years offense seems to move the ball on nearly every drive, even when when we don’t score. Getting the ball to at least midfield on offense is very important for giving the defense a rest and also helping them avoid short field scores.
 
Yeah. Some of that is play calling and some of that is Teddy B throwing a solid catchable ball and the backs and WR having reliable hands.

I calculated all of our failed drives this season - drives which ended in a punt, missed FG, or ended on downs. I didn’t include turnovers or clock killing drives, because those results aren’t a result of scheme. That left 16 drives which failed - our average was 20 yards gained on those drives for 325yds total. Of those 16 failed drives, only 5 were less than 10 yards gained, and 3 of those drives were in the San Diego game. So that leaves 4 games where we only had 2 total drive less than 10 yards.
 
Re 2021 draft, what appears to be the biggest position of need? I’m thinking our first round should be BPA on defense.
 
BPA on defense. More pass rushers. DB depth. TE.

Yeah. He’s never really had a chance to show he’s not a franchise QB. He could be worth another contract or maybe we sign another veteran in his mid-20s after Teddy’s contract is up.

The Falcons fired Quinn and their GM.

This is probably one of the most rewarding seasons to be mediocre anyway, because there are a lot of really bad teams fighting for draft picks, and majority of the league looks middling, so it probably will be just as difficult to get a top 5 pick as to make the playoffs, in terms of likelihood.
 
Agreed. And home field advantage is diminished. Wild card teams have a better shot than usual.

So less chance of getting a #1 pick. Better chance to make the SB. Just go for it.
 
we were in the game with the raiders with a chance to tie in the last 2 min, and the raiders are pretty good as it turns out. i feel good about this team and they are fun to watch.
