2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

This quote though has me shaking my head hard.....

Peter Buttigieg: I believe in capitalism as long as there's a strong rule of law around it. We're dealing with a whole [older] generation that was really shaped by a Cold War environment where socialism was treated as the same thing as communism. And the opposite of that was democracy and capitalism. So to be for socialism was to be for communism and against democracy and capitalism. Now you see how these things are really shaking loose from each other in a lot of ways. They've become unbundled. The big question is what you prioritize, and I prioritize democracy. People are trying to make sense of the distance between socialism in Canada, say, and Denmark versus Venezuela. And the answer is democracy.

No the answer is that only one of those have socialist economies, and it's not Canada or Denmark.

That's weird I think he is a pretty good looking dude, is that not the general opinion?

I assume the person on the NPR podcast was referring to PB’s ability to dive deep into a subject vs hitting quick sound bites that are great for cable tv.

The only people who call drugs "dope" are people trying to rhyme with "hope" and narcs.

IDK dude dope head, dope pills, and dope sick are pretty commonly used, or at least they were when I was living in Appalachia. I don't have enough fingers on my hand to count the friends i had die or ruin their lives on them, so it hurts my heart when I see people like MHBD pushing them.

In US political discourse those are all socialist.

I think people appetites are changing away from the quick 3 minute news bite to more long form discussions. We are quickly moving out of the TV era to the era of the pod cast which is going to change the ball game. Especially the fucking millennial's.

Pete Buttigeig impresses me more every time I hear him speak. I don’t know if America is ready for an openly gay President though.

Why do you think that? What does his being gay have to do with his ability to perform the duties of President?

Then it goes back to what Warren said in her town hall, the people calling themselves socialist or members of DSA need to define what Socialism means to them. Particularly regarding on if they allow for private markets or not, there seems to be no agreement on this.

Absolutely nothing relating between his being gay and ability to carry out the duties. I still think America is too prejudiced against homosexuals for him to win.

Maybe the only ones who wouldn’t vote for him are the ones who wouldn’t vote for a Democrat anyway.

Think that is the answer, I definitely think a gay dude or gal could get voted into office.

Why? Republicans have done them a favor by defining everything they don’t like as socialist.

I think Pete could win. I would expect Gays for Trump to pick up steam if Pete emerges as a favorite. And there will be some “I’m fine with a gay president” but just not him lines from Republicans who clearly aren’t fine with it.

I think being gay will work like Obama being black. A long election cycle gets people used to the idea. But I think some people snapped when they saw Barack and Michelle and two little black girls going into the White House. It’s like the difference between a white kid having a black friend at school and actually inviting him to his house or even “worse” going to the black kid’s house. There’s a line.

People will be fine with this reasonable midwestern young guy. But they’ll freak out seeing two dudes having a first dance at the inaugural ball. They’ll freak out seeing a President with a husband, no kids, maybe even no First Lady (not sure if he has a female relative or friend who would do the traditional duties). And then they’ll start talking about restoring traditional values and veiled and not so veiled homophobic language.

Y'all better get on this bandwagon. MY GIRL knows who's the boss.

“Better than eating Stormy Daniels after the birth of your son.”

Not a chance in hell does trump go down on women. There is no way that dude is remotely interested in his partners actually getting off or being satisfied. I would be willing to bet that almost every woman he’s ever been with has faked an orgasm every time.
