2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

Bernie definitely won’t quit the race no matter what. I think he will fade into 4th or 5th as the weaker candidates drop out of the race. I just don’t see someone going from anybody else to Bernie. And there’s little evidence anybody has.

I'd say Mayor Pete won the night. He had two great moments-calling out the Republicans and saying no matter what Dems do the GOP would be calling them socialists. Warren was probably next. After that it was a tossed salad. In another year, with a manageable number of candidates Bullock would have a shot.

MT may have two legit chances to beat their wacky senator. Bullock could easily win. I watched Wilmot Collins, the black, immigrant mayor of Helena was very impressive.

Mayor Pete is dat guy

Also, when Warren smacked down Delaney I legitimately laughed out loud.

Didn’t watch, but enjoying y’all’s recaps. Anyone have a link to Mayor Pete’s GOP take down?

Any of these folks, even the love(ie) lady would be a vast improvement over what we’re suffering under now.

I like Buttigieg and Warren. Leaning very slightly towards the latter but very close to flipping on that.

And am wondering if Buttigieg has a better chance of winning the general.

I thought Ryan and Klobuchar did pretty well tonight. But not well enough, probably.

I think delany is doing well, but he's too moderate to win.

so well you don't even know how to spell his last name

also, he didn't do well, he continually got smacked back down as a feckless guy without the gumption to get big ideas accomplished

Delaney and Hickenlooper should just drop out first thing in the morning.

Hickenlooper should run against Gardner for the CO Senate seat, I think he'd make an excellent Senator, but he isn't going to win the nomination.

Delaney's candidacy was always a stone's throw away from a joke, but Warren absolutely destroyed any political credibility he had left.

IMO, several of these Dems should drop out and run for the Senate in their states in 2020. Colorado, Montana, Texas - guys like Castro, Beto, Hickenlooper, Bullock, etc. would all be strong candidates, and would greatly increase the Democrat's chances of taking back the Senate next year.

I think Hickenlooper would be a good President, but I tend to agree that it is going to be really tough to come back from the back of the pack at this point and he would be an excellent Senator.

100% agreed and there is still time to do so, but getting into the fall/winter and then pivoting makes the move look worse.

I thought Warren had the best night. Her presidency would be the most significant one policy wise that we've had since LBJ.

At the moment (subject to change):

POTUS - Harris, Biden, Warren
VP - Pete, Julian Castro, Stacey Abrams

That’s probably the play for a lot of them.

Just using the process to maximize exposure, expand name recognition.

Do you seriously think a person who has never held a position above the state rep level should be VP?
