2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

That's kind of the point-Hilary got labelled a socialist despite her record. Also, many of those 75% have either children, siblings, or friends with student loan debt. And if we are going to presuppose a total lack of empathy, we might as well fold the party-it's not like the kids in cages vote.

Sorry, eliminating college debt by taxes is a losing concept for a presidential election. It plays right into us vs. them.

You can try it after the election in some form based in service and other things, but eliminating all college debt will be a bad choice at this time.

America seems to me as a whole lacks empathy. America in my opinion has become a country where I believe large swaths of people will do literally anything to fight against the greater good unless you show them that they themselves will tangible benefit, and even then I think they still rage against it. I believe Individualism is a travesty.

Edited just so everybody is sure that this is your opinion and not some sort of objective truth.

By the way, is there a reason we aren't treating moderates who wouldn't vote for Warren with the same scorn as "Bernie Bros who took their ball and went home"? Trump is indefensible at this point for anyone who sincerely values civility.

At least I think Chris and RJ will vote for Warren if she’s the nominee

Lol fair enough. Only thing is I can show you actual evidence of people voting against their interests when it would help them too, polls that show people disapprove of policies that would benefit the whole of the country because they heard that the lazy brown people are getting a free ride, and I can show you all of the rubes who would follow Trump to the grave even though he has shown absolutely no interest in helping them, just stoking their greatest fears.

But, you know, just a small thing.

paranoid bernie bros bein' paranoid bernie bros

, i've been a Pete or Warren person the whole time. and of course i'd support whomever is nominated. i'm not some loser bernie bro traitor.

you still may be a loser tho

I believe that, just like I think that all the "Bernie bros" on here voted for Hillary (save for BSF and Moonz, but one hasn't been on for years, and the other is a troll).

Which ones of us here won't show up and vote for Warren? Haven't all of us Dems in the dreaded moderate camp said we would? I wouldn't even have to hold my nose, though she's far from my favorite. I just don't think she'd win.

I think most anti-Berniebro backlash on here does not include current posters, so I am doing the same. My point was that if Warren was too progressive to get elected, I'd be as mad at the moderates as I would be at any Bernie voter who enabled a Trump victory. The narrative seems to be:

Moderate is nominated and loses="damn progressives took their ball and went home"
Progressive is (hypothetically) nominated and loses="damn progressives nominated someone unelectable"

Most of the scorn for Bernie Bros is the fact that they embraced conspiracy theories, trashed the convention with protests and booing, and spent most of the general election campaign trashing HRC. They did much of Trump's general election job for him.

If Warren is the nominee (and she is much more palatable than Sanders), I will get behind her. But I reserve the right to post #bidenwouldhavewon if she loses.

Smart play for a sure win is Kamala/Mayor Pete. First female President who is also a POC and a gay, millennial combat vet. They would both dominate their debates with Trump/Pence. Hard core Trumpers won't care, but they can't win if the Democrats come out to vote.

Can't really disagree with this though I prefer Warren.

yup, charitable deductions are way down this year (i think i saw 54%) after the new tax standard deduction doubled. so a lot of Americans will only give to charity if they get something back...Christians, pffft.

How do we feel about righthand Bernie? Because we can do a little work.

Right hand Bernie is givng me a Lee Corso vibe. Do not want.

That was just reported charitable contributions. No reason to file an itemized deduction worksheet if you don't qualify for itemized deductions. I don't any more after itemizing for years.

I'm really starting to think we're really going to blow this thing. Personally, I like Pete best of those with a chance, and I think he'd perform the best on a stage with Trump. But I'm not sure he can get to 270 because of the gay and lack of experience things. In order to get to 270, you probably have to win by 5 points. Biden is the only 1 I feel fairly certain who can do that, and I just don't see him performing well enough in the debates and primaries to get the nomination. Add to that Biden gets lousy press from the MSM. And is Obama, you know Barack, whose approval ratings in his last year were in the mid 50s, even going to be invited to the convention depending on who the nominee is? Biden is the only candidate who dares utter his name, and he utters his name more often than Rudy says 9/11.

This is a dumb post on multiple levels. Biden is the one most likely to screw it up because he differs the least from Trump. Barack and Michelle will be featured at the convention and both may be keynote speakers. Biden is the one trying to get by on his association with Obama and to bring back the past. The others are trying to get by on their own merits and policies and look forward a new future.

Here's a piece Politico did talking to 2016 Pub campaign management types on who they think did well in the debate and how folks fare v. Trump. The unfortunate fact is very few of these candidates scare Trump. Pub strategists have consistently maintained that they want to run against folks like Sanders, Warren and Gillibrand. Obama would easily win in a 2020 match-up, but he can't run again, and we simply lack an electable candidate with his chops.
