One problem is that Republican politicians are trying to circumvent actual votes.

The bigger problem is that they’re doing so with the explicit or implicit support of the vast majority of their party. Any Republicans who are against this left a long time ago. The rest think the election was stolen from them and this is a reasonable way to get it back.
 
Republicans plan corruption if Democrats don’t hold them accountable for corruption.
