2023 College Football Coaching Carousel

It’s amazing that a coach who won a national championship within the last 5 years can’t find a job. The list of active coaches with natty’s is very small at the moment.
I’m assuming that part of it is that he’s happy living where he lives and he has plenty of money.

That’s probably part of it but also he isn’t necessarily a personality that is going to work every where. I do believe he has put himself forward for a couple jobs around Louisiana.

Kirby and Dabo. That’s it right now for active coaches with a championship.

List of BC candidates from the Athletic:

  • Toledo HC Jason Candle - (won a MAC Championship, like Clawson) 20-8 in two years
  • Dan Mullen - was a candidate for the Cuse opening; he's from the Northeast
  • ND DL Coach Al Washington - BC grad, interviewed for the job when Hafley got it
  • Bill O'Brien - Spent a ton of time in Boston; is the BC HC job better than being the tOSU OC?
  • AF Troy Calhoun - West Coast guy; can't see Calhoun in Boston
  • KY OC Liam Coen - From RI, has coached at Brown, URI, UMass and Maine
  • JMU HC Bob Chesney - Just left Holy Cross to take the JMU job, would've been the leading candidate had the BC job opened earlier
  • ND DC Al Golden - Was an assistant at BC, from NJ, briefly played for the Pats
  • Yale HC Tony Reno - 67-43 record; won the last two Ivy titles; WF recruited his kid, Dante HS class of 2024 QB recruit, who has committed to S. Carolina, would think Dante would follow his Dad to BC
  • Bill Belichick - BC has got to check just in case; can't imagine recruiting HS kids and dealing with NIL would be his thing

Seems unlikely but Kelly is from New Hampshire.Kelly has also been rumored for NFL OC jobs

Looking like Bill O'Brien to BC (Chip Kelly did interview - man, he wants out of UCLA):

Pitt loses very well-respected DL coach, Charlie Partridge, to NFL (Colts).

Pretty sure TOB burned that bridge when he went to State.

Also TOB is 75 years old and hasn’t coached anywhere since 2014

This means the tOSU OC job will be open.
