2023 MLB Thread -- World Champion Rangers - Hot Stove Warming Up - Soto to the Yanks - Ohtani's destination unknown

an absolutely HORRIBLE review call just went Seattle's way in the 8th. Julio was thrown out at home but the Ms challenged that the plate was blocked.

Somehow the challenge was upheld or confirmed or whatever the terminology is. I'd be fucking LIVID if that call went against the Ms. The catcher's knee was maybe 40% on the chalk of the baseline.

But anyway....WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Go Ms!

There have been a few baffling plate blocking reviews lately. They really need to revisit that rule.

Talk of a Legends HR Derby during All Star weekend? Who's interested? right now the following have said they'd be in:
Ken Griffey Jr. … Albert Pujols … Jim Thome … David Ortiz

Bonds. McGwire. Sosa. Three of the greatest sluggers of all time. They should be in the Hall of Fame. Instead they were consigned to the scrap heap. Don't hold your breath waiting for them to put on another show. They already have and MLB gave them the finger and turned their back on them.

If the season ended today the playoffs would be:

AL

1. Rays
2. Rangers

3. Twins v. 6. Astros
4. Orioles v. Blue Jays

2022 playoff teams that would not qualify: Yankees, Guardians, Mariners. FWIW, the Rays are in trouble. They have lost a ton of starting pitching, and they have stopped raking. Hope TB can get it back together, but I'm worried.

NL
1. Braves
2. Dodgers

3. Brewers v. 6. Marlins
4. Giants v. 5. Diamondbacks

2022 playoff teams that would not qualify: Mets, Padres, Cardinals and Phillies. Of that group, all are done except for the Phillies who are only 1/2 game behind the Marlins.

New low rarity score.

It is July 24, and the Baltimore Orioles are in first place in the AL East.

And their organization is flush with prospects to use a trade chips to bolster their roster by the August 1 trade deadline. If the Orioles can add a solid starting pitcher, they have as a good a chance as anyone in the AL.
