I think OldGoldBeard used to put together a thread like this every year. I miss that.

The offseason is far from over, but there are some teams above that look pretty terrible...

Notre Dame is returning pretty much nobody and bringing in a whole lot of meh. They'll need to be active over the next couple of months.
Pittsburgh is losing a lot. If Hinson comes back, they might not be terrible... But I don't see how they avoid a significant step backwards.
Syracuse is gonna suck because I don't think Mintz is coming back... Transition to a new coach also makes me a skeptic.
Louisville can't possibly be as bad, but they still look shitty to me.
GT looks terrible... They've brought in mostly a pupu platter of mediocre guys.
FSU roster is bad, but I suspect they'll be active in the portal and bring in some additional talent.
BC likely about the same as last year... Which is pretty mediocre.

No reason for Wake Forest to finish below any of the teams listed above.

Even if we didn't fill the roster with anybody else (and a big IF but if Monsanto is back and at 100% by around December) I have to imagine we start the year in the top 60-65 metrics wise (and even eye test).

Let's get Aziz from Utah Valley

Funny that Clemson and NC State essentially made a portal trade:

Two years of Ben Middlebrooks for one year of Jack Clark.

Seems like Miami also will take a step back, losing Wong, potentially losing Omier and/or Pack, and basically adding (to date) no one. I guess they are thinking that Omier and Pack will likely be back?

Yeah, I agree that losing Wong and Miller means a step back... But they could still bring in some pieces. Wouldn't take much if Pack, Omier, and Poplar are all back.

Updated BC for Post. I remember seeing that... Didn't notice Borzello had him listed as "in limbo".

Also moved Hunter Tyson to departing instead of returning because he's played 5 years... Not sure why Borzello thinks he'd be coming back.

Saw a couple of days ago that Syracuse transfer Joe Girard has named Clemson and LSU as his final 2. Decision expected soon.

also think Bensley Joseph could take a leap. He showed some flashes for them

Kind of weird final 2 for Girard both geographically and style of basketball. He seems like the prototypical Northeast ball dominant guard. If he's going to leave Syracuse, would think the Big East or maybe even Atlantic 10 would make more sense. Also, Girard hasn't played man defense in almost 5 years. Big guys can transition out of a zone defense easier than guards.

Yeah, Girard is not a strong defensive player... Never has been, even in HS/AAU.

Agree that he'd be better suited to playing in the A10 and firing up 15-20 shots/game.

lots of portal time left, but Virginia also seems to be losing a ton of production (Jayden Gardner (12.0 PPG), Kihei Clark (10.7 PPG), Armaan Franklin (12.4 PPG), Ben Vander Plas (7.4 PPG), Kadin Shedrick (6.2 PPG), Francisco Caffaro (2.0 PPG)). Guess they are hoping that Jordan Minor and Rohde can fill it up like they did at their prior schools.
