ACC Mens Golf Championships

Time for a coach that can win in the big tournaments. We have not played well in the ACC for years! So sad with the heritage.

Just for fun. Last ACC win: 1989. Since then: 2 second place finishes, 4 third place finishes, 4 fourth place finishes and 3 fifth place finishes.

While nice, ACC not end all be all. We've had NCAA 2nd, 3rd and I think another top 5 in the last 18 years plus 3 regional wins. Plus a ton of team and individual wins during the season. Like any of the 4 majors, really tough to peak twice a year at the right time. And since we last won in 86, we are probably the 2nd best private school besides Stanford.

It's a screwy game

You mean 89. 86 was stand alone 3rd.

Was referring to last NCAA title.

And yes the ACC record is horrible. I have no idea why. It's like a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. It's just a weird, fluky stat. If the record didn't exist you'd never believe it was even possible.

Calling for Haas' head is crazy. These guys won a tournament and are on pace to break the scoring record at Wake. Golf is crazy. They beat Clemson by 20 plus strokes last week and now Clemson is near the top of the leaderboard. Team is young with a great class coming in and if they get sent back to the same course they played last week for the regional they could be in really good shape. You can make a really good argument that tennis and golf are the only competitive sports at Wake right now. Possibly field hockey but only about half of the ACC plays field hockey so that is hard to evaluate.

Actually, they won 3 tournaments this season.

Who is calling for his head on this thread? Not sure who you are arguing with.

Tied for the fourth best round so far today. Improvement at least.

In 8th place now.
Even with a great round tomorrow, 6th is about the best we could finish.
The top 5 teams have really separated themselves from the rest.

Tomorrow is going to be a hell of a day of golf. One team at -13, 3 at -12 and one at -11. Only one other team under par at -1... Talk about fucking up a field.

Not calling for Haas' head but to use the variability of golf as an excuse why we haven't won an ACCT in 26 years is a bit silly. Should have had 1 in the Haas era based on talent alone

I have not been a fan of Haas, but he has finally assembled some talent. I am for giving him a couple more years. This is not a redacted situation by a long shot.

So far, they seem to playing up to their potential this morning. Maybe they can finish strongly.

Deacs are -5 so far today and Davis Womble is -4.
At best, we'll only move up 1 position in the team standings, but it would be nice to finish strong

So far UNC is -9 on the day and Clemson is -8... Holy shit.

GT with a 1 stroke lead going into 18 over FSU and Clemson

Par from GT and FSU and a birdie from Clemson means Clemson and GT tied at -19
