The spine dislocations appear to be in the Northern climes - so maybe that, the sprains and overexertions are winter related injuries.

I would guess the northern injuries are more related to ice and snow generally, rather than hockey specifically. It is nasty to walk on ice and snow for six (or more) months out of the year. Lots of slips and falls.
