He goes back to Europe to get his game back and get paid, then comes back to NBA in a year or so. I don't think he would fight for DM. Very short time to call that roll.

Pretty sure we did the same with the guy who committed to State and just put his name in the draft.

Giving him the option screams "hoard is leaving and we need any help we can get."

Has there ever been a player to take that route? US HS to college then leave early to go to Europe and then finally to the NBA? I'm sure there has been, but it seems pretty rare. Seems like most of the guys that come to the NBA via Europe played pro ball in Europe instead of college ball. Or they play ball in college, don't get drafted, raise their game in Europe and sign on in the NBA as a free agent. It seems like if Hoard wanted to use Europe as a stepping stone to the NBA, he shouldn't have done the US HS/college thing the last few years. He should have just gone pro in Europe as early as possible.

But a scholarship for 2019 is Wake's choice.

The option on Wake's part is to offer him a scholarship beginning in 2019 or one beginning in 2020.

Saw Hoard play for less than 8 minutes total in two games on TV. College basketball is dead to me. To think I went to 37 ACC Tournaments in a row is quite sad.
