We should be able to get both McClung and Whitt if we wanted to. If we got McClung, he’d probably only PLAY here a year and he’d go pro. He was thinking about going pro this year, right?

Whitt would be the future of the program, and Neath is a guy that should be able to play both SG and PG. Him and Childress played that way a lot last year and I liked them two together better than Childress and White or Johnson. If both Whitt and McClung wanted to come to Wake and play PG, I think both should be able to come play. It shouldn’t be an issue.

It would be Neath, Adams, Watson, Whitt, McClung, Wilkins in the backcourt and you’d have Mucius, Massoud, Ody, Tariq (and hopefully Zapala) in the frontcourt. That’s a very good basketball team that could win a lot of games. You add in another big man and a few other young players and it would be a lethal group. Obviously all hypothetical, but again, if we were able to take both McClung and Whitt, you take them. No hesitation.

McClung did declare for the draft and got some NBA evals. He apparently didn't get any high draft pick vibes. Apparently Patrick Ewing was somewhat premature on his statement about McClung returning to Georgetown and that apparently triggered McClung's entry into the portal, and apparently closing the door on a return to Georgetown.

If Sarr and Chaundee returned, we would have had a good chance to challenge for The Dance.

If I recall correctly, Charlie Harrison, Georgetown transfer was in his sit out/ redshirt year the same season Childress was rehabbing his knee. At the end of the season, those two were destroying Wake's starting guards in practice.

Were they going up against McQueen and Tucker, or had McQueen already graduated?

I'll never forget Tucker, at 6'8 and clearly a forward, having to play a season at SG. Brilliant coaching job by Odom to make that work.

For those (like me) who did not know how coaches recruit and get commitments during a "dead period" which was just extended to June 30, this is from rivals:

The NCAA's Division I Council Coordination Committee announced Wednesday that it had extended the current recruiting dead period through June 30. The committee also wrote in the release that it will review the dead period dates again on May 27, adding that it could still possibly extend the period even further.

During a dead period, coaches are allowed to still speak with prospective student-athletes electronically - including text messages, over the phone, email and video conference - but no on- or off-campus contact is allowed. Coaches are also not allowed to begin in-person evaluations. That was particularly notable for May, as football's spring evaluation period ran from April 15 to May 31.

Earlier this week, the NCAA also announced that coaches were now allowed unlimited phone and video calls with prospects. Under the previous dead period rules, coaches were limited in how many times they could contact a prospect in a given week.

These rules are in place for both college football and basketball. So, Coach Forbes and his staff (and Clawson and his staff) are working recruits electronically rather than through in person and campus visits. Kind of obvious, but thought that the explanation could be helpful as WF continues to build its roster.

Next week's vote is going to lead to the Wild West either way. If the vote allows no sitting out, there will be more poaching at a wild life reserve. If the vote is no, the scrambling for people to get the elusive waivers and others trying to return will cause a mad house.

Could be fun to watch.

So if Sarr doesn't get a waiver, since he signed with UK, he has no option to return to MSD, correct?

It would depend on what paperwork he actually filed to be admitted and enrolled at KY and how much he did to formally withdraw from Wake.

im with Biff...F*ck Sarr. he turned his back on Wake the SECOND he was able to. he listened 100% to a complete loser for 6 years. hope he has fun being the 4th option behind a bunch of freshman.

So Forbes is going after a guy who is a high school freshman and may not have played a full season. He has a lot of growing years between now and arriving at college.
