Best Stand Up Comedians/Performances

For the current guys, somebody mentioned Jim Gaffigan - he is great. Eddie Izzard cracks me up too. Agree with everyone on Louis CK.

For some reason Dmetri Martin cracks me up - but he is another visual guy because of his deadpan humor.

For deadpan delivery, I think Stephen Wright is hilarious.

I've also liked some of the standup routines I've seen from Christopher Titus.

Current favorites are Louis Black, Louis CK, Ricky Gervais and Jim Jefferies. Surprised no one has mentioned Louis Black or Ricky.

:)

Others who are still performing:

Lewis Black
Ron White
Kyle Kinane
Jimmy Carr (British)
John Mulaney
Lavell Crawford
Maria Bamford

Along with others already mentioned, Sam Kinison and Rodney Carrington would be in my top 10.

Rodney Carrington is great as well.

Bernie Mac (RIP) is getting completely ignored.

I love that Maria Bamford is the first woman brought up by anyone.

Bernie Mac was really close to making my list as well. Kinds of Comedy was just excellent all the way around.

Always thought Ricky Gervais was overrated as a stand-up. His other stuff is brilliant (writing, acting, hosting, etc), but his stand-up isn't as good.

I really like Ricky's stand-up. I've seen 3 of them and thought they were all smart and very funny. Also have loved him at the Golden Globes - "I like a drink as much as the next bloke. Unless the next bloke is Mel Gibson..."

And it's odd, but I never really got into The Office. Though I think The Invention of Lying is the best comedy of the last several years.

Dave Attell was best I've seen live. I don't care for Seinfeld's stand up, wouldn't even put him in honorable mention.

Glad to see Dave Atell mentioned. His show on Showtime called "Dave's old Porn" is really funny. I would also include Redd Foxx, Eddie Murphy(from the 80's), Katt Williams, and Dave Chappelle.

i think Kevin Hart is one of the better standup comedians right now along with some of the others already mentioned like Louis CK

Really like Kevin Hart...he's hilarious.

And not GOAT or anything, but I just saw Amy Schumer's standup on Comedy Central recently and she is pretty damn funny...and pretty damn hot too...

Can't pick a favorite, but these are the ones I enjoy the most:

The Sklar Brothers
Kyle Kinane
Mitch Hedberg
Dave Chapelle
John Mulaney
Anthony Jeselnik
Mike Birbiglia
Patton Oswalt
Kevin Hart

That's weird considering it wasn't funny.

Been trying to come up with a legit funny female standup. Can't.

Paula Poundstone can be very funny live when she riffs off the crowd.

I saw Kevin James at Goodnight's in Raleigh a decade or so back before he made it big wih the King of Queens and he was great.
