Yeah, it really says something about how awful our political system is that somebody of Jackson's energy and caliber has been gerrymandered out of his House seat after serving just one term, while people like Virginia Foxx and Ted Budd get to represent our state seemingly for as long as they want.

Virginia Foxx especially is just baffling to me. She is a backwoods troll who can never get booted out because she has an (R) after her name. It's really amazing

The silver lining to Jackson getting drawn out of his district is that as AG his work will have a much larger impact on North Carolinians. I can't imagine him not making a run at governor or another run at Senate and being the state AG will probably be more helpful towards this end too.

Republicans turned down bipartisan border bill that’s probably the best they’ll get unless they have an incredible November. So all they’ve got to justify it is more racism and xenophobia.

Getting anything is probably a net negative for them since they can't campaign as hard on the issue. Their voters aren't going to remember, or even know, they walked away from a bill to address it in some way. And if they vote for a Dem-led border bill it is absolutely going to be an issue in a primary challenge from the right.

In other words, Republicans are not serious about governing, only serious about getting elected.

It’s the same thing as abortion. They don’t actually want the “problem” addressed, because then they have to find something new to screech and complain about
