Bullshit Trump Says

Nixon left because he lost the support of his party and had no other choice. Trump is worse, much worse, but the party surrounding him has lost all morality.

There is a lot of bullshit in what all politicians say. Joe is trying to sell himself as the return to normalcy candidate who can work with both sides. Sure, you and I know there is only so much you can work on with the current congressional Pubs. But yet another poll today (by Quinnipiac) shows Biden in the lead for the Dem nomination and beating Trump by double digits and everyone else in single digits. Maybe this is partly due to people buying Joe's bullshit, or maybe it's just because independent and establishment Pub folks are more comfortable with him than the other Dem aspirants. But as long as those numbers hold, he doesn't have to say anything of substance and probably shouldn't. Just smile and try to be everything to everybody. Right now it's working, and we'll see if it continues to work.
 
Normalcy sucked. That’s not something Biden should be selling.

Ok -- but not saying anything of substance is different than saying really stupid shit. The Quinnipiac poll also had Bernie (+9). Harris (+8), and Warren (+7) v. Trump.

The big problem here is that it is an empty promise. Joe will win the presidency in 2020, sure, maybe even overwhelmingly. But voters will get pissed that all his efforts to return to normalcy and accomplish anything at all will fail, the pubs will nominate some one just as bad or worse than Trump in 2024, Dems will be very unenthusiastic about voting for an ineffective 83 year old and won't show up...Crazy Pub-man will and nothing will actually get fixed. The premise that our political norms and institutions were eroded the day Trump took office is erroneous. Congress has been broken since at least the mid 90's... Mitch McConnell is an evil mother fucker... One presidential election can't undo decades of dysfunction, if Obama showed us anything, it's that. The country needs a strong fearless leader not a strong and fearless compromiser.

also, cville’s normalcy sucked. Trump sucks, but people were poor and out of work back in normalcy. Health care was too expensive and social mobility too limited in normalcy. Foreign policy was exploitative, immigration policy was still draconian, and public education at every level was underfunded. Reproductive rights and climate science were less under fire, but similarly limited by right wing interests and the wealthy still didn’t pay jack shit in taxes.

Normalcy culminated in the foreclosure crisis and Great Recession.

How’s about we quit thinking about the politician who will allow us not to think about the rampant inequality in our society but will be good for the stability of our 401ks (aka normalcy), and instead support politicians that can help us avoid the actual fucking apocalypse that we’re looking down on now.
 
better get over to Europe to hand over that data to some Russians, not that there's anything wrong with that
 
What about the past two years or even his entire professional career leads anyone to think that Trump will leave office if he loses? I dread the chaos he is certain to unleash between the election and inauguration.

^All of this. Even if Trump loses by a wide margin, can anyone, either his supporters or critics, see him graciously giving a concession speech on election night or the day after? Can anyone see him ever giving a concession speech of any sort? He'll scream that he was "robbed" from the White House roof (and twitter, of course), and they may have to literally drag him out of the Oval Office. At any rate, I just hope that he does lose - giving him another term is like playing with fire.
