Depends on which of either. If it's trash sheet cake from Sylvia's going away party vs. some bomb-ass Key Lime Pie, then pie.

If it's a frozen pie with a crust that tastes like someone stuck their feet in it vs. a legit Tres Leches, then cake.

Pie, because pies can be savory and not just sweet fatty mcfattits desserts. I don't really like sweets but I will crush a good meat pie. I'll take a bomb shepards pie or pot pie all day.

We did the same thing. It was a great choice and a smash hit. They were mini cobblers.
