This sounds like a pretty excellent use of time and resources. Glad that those rich, insular, white-privilege loving, racist douchenozzles could come together to inspire productive dialogue.
 
Grand Jury Indicts 15 after Birthday Party Confrontation

At a Monday news conference, Fortner said the 15 people associated with the group “Respect the Flag” drove around the community in vehicles displaying the Confederate flag when they stopped near a residence on Campbellton Street where some residents were having a child’s birthday party.

After media coverage of the confrontation which was captured in part on video, the Douglasville Police Department and the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office conducted an investigation into the circumstances.

On Friday, the Grand Jury indicted 15 members of “Respect the Flag” on charges they violated Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and Terrorist threats.

the local authorities have put significant resources on it, and the FBI, ATF and state patrol are also involved. heard some audio on NPR yesterday involving the St. Louis chief of police and others doing a community meeting with affected congregations to talk about it. they seem to be treating it with the seriousness it deserves.
 
Ole Miss removed the state flag from their campus. The MS state flag includes the confederate battle flag and dates from the 1890s. Ole Miss has had numerous issues with use of the battle flag from the early '60s until now. MS is the last state to incorporate the confederate battle flag into their state flag.
 
FBI foils alleged plot by Chesterfield white supremacists to incite race war

Federal court documents provide some disturbing details about an apparent plot by white supremacists in Chesterfield to incite a race war. They include plans to bomb and shoot up black churches and Jewish synagogues, as well as a plot to kill a local jewelry dealer, and rob an armored car, among other crimes. The crimes were to provide the proceeds to purchase land, weapons and training for the so-called coming race war. But they were apparently foiled by the FBI.

Watching this "Shining a Light" concert / special, and Soledad O'Brien visits with some Civil War re-enactors. One says "we are not racists, we are not people that think slavery should be re-instituted." Lowest "not racist" bar ever?
