Hypothetical: Are people allowed to bang their step-siblings? Like there's nothing illegal about it right? Two teenagers could be dating/banging, and their parents end up meeting each other and getting married afterwards. I imagine the answer to this question lies in what age the step-siblings meet and if they knew each other (or were already dating/banging) before their step parent came into the picture. So what's acceptable?

Disclaimer: this does not apply to me, I do not have step siblings

You guys are my sounding board so you get to listen to me bitch. I still really love my job, but you’re dead on, you’re average teacher takes a great deal of shit from students and especially from parents. Coaches get it much worse.

Client-facing roles have a high percentage of dealing with stupid shit and taking responsibility for things where you have no involvement other than simply being alive. However, people in client-facing roles typically get paid the best. A real conundrum.

I coached a middle school soccer team for a season back when I was in law school and by and large the parents were all pretty cool to me. That may have been partly because I took a team that was just awful and led them to a one loss season, with that one loss being against a HS JV team in the first game of the year, which made the kids happy and they were all having fun, but I thought I was pretty lucky. The prior coach (who was technically co-coach with me since he was on faculty at the school but who never once came to a practice or game), was universally loathed by the parents and kids, so maybe they were just glad it was someone else.

How many kids did you have, and were you able to play all of them? Because it all inevitably comes back to playing time.

There were like 15-17 kids. There were a couple that were terrible and defs played less than others, but I tried to work around that as best I could. I happened to have the best player in the league on my team (by far - I had opposing coaches ask me before games if I would consider not playing him so that the game would be more fair), so when he was on the field I would take that opportunity to get the worst kids on the field as well. Or if we got up so big that it didn't matter if the other team got a few goals I would take him and the other good players out and let the terrible kids play. I had a couple of parents ask about playing time, but since I was trying to accommodate and the kids themselves weren't unhappy (one kid actively didn't want to play but his mom wanted him to), there was never any real confrontation.
 
Fucking UPS. I'm literally sitting 5 feet from my front door when I hear someone coming up my front stoop. I don't look out to see who it is because they didn't knock or ring the bell and I assumed it was the mailman. Heard some rustling, which I found confusing, and got up to look out once I heard them go down the steps. It was UPS with a big ass package. They left a note saying that I wan't home and so I ran down the block to catch him just as he was pulling away and I was like "why didn't you knock?" and the response was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. At least they didn't just leave the package cuz it would have gotten stole before I could get out of my chair, but still.

So many people already gone for the year in my office. Just putting on headphones and listening to CSNY and doing mindless end of year stuff. Gotta say, it's a big letdown from Carry On/Questions to Teach Your Children. Deja Vu still kicks ass though.
