i am 48 years old, have lived in Mecklenburg County for 21 years, and I have never been called for jury duty.
Hmmm. A wealthy, middle aged white guy has positive experiences with the police. Who woulda thunk it?
I wonder if I'm the only person on the boards to have received a police brutality settlement.

likewise never been called for jury duty
Called like clockwork every 2 years here. Only served once. DUI case where the guy claimed he was the passenger. We saw through that BS real quick. Turns out it was his 3rd DUI so off to jail he went.
so i have been left the smoking remains of my elderly father in law's insolvent business to make some sense of and to hand off to the lawyers to tell a bunch of people that they aren't getting anything out of a rock. This was 50/60 hours I would rather spend doing something else.
Old people need to trust their kids at some point to make their financial decisions for them. We (me and my brother) took over my parents finances for the last 5/6 years of their lives and made much better decisions than they would have ever made.

Did like 8 days of jury duty in Hillsborough 9/10 years ago that was an illuminating experience the first few days, then turned into a slog. I was one of the first 12 in the box and just didn't make it out -- I think only two people were excused. It was a case that should never have gone to trial, just a construction/contract dispute over an addition to a home.
Interesting experience, though. And I got PAID.
