Lots of tension on these RJKarl boards these days... Let's cut it with a really important question:

What mattress should I buy?

Current situation:
We have a 9 year old king-sized Stearns & Foster Estate Jacalyn Luxury Plush Euro Pillowtop (since discontinued). I let my wife pick it out back then because we weren't yet married... Just moving in together, and it was important to her to have a nice, soft, new mattress (and not something I'd been using to bang random hoes on the reg... high five!). I like something firmer, but I compromised (did I mention this was 9 years ago?). We stopped rotating it regularly years ago, so it has a divot where my chiseled 6'2", 200lbs physique lays every night (way on the right 1/3 of the bed). It's time for a new one.

She actually wants something firmer this time (so think "middle of the road")... But we both hate memory foam mattresses. The pillows are great, but I don't like how my body slowly sinks into those mattresses every time I move in the night (which is a lot). I dread when I stay at a hotel that has those things. I sleep like shit in hotels anyway, but that's not germane to this.

We think we'll just get a newer version of what we have, but a little firmer than last time... And we'll just commit to rotating it more often.

Anyone have a better suggestion? I'm open to hearing both serious and snarky answers. But I really do want to know what others like.

***The couch discussion that was had in the not-so-distant past made me think this was a good forum for this. We're also in the market for a couch, but first things first.

The New $400,000 Bed That Already Has A Waiting List

The coolest service that Adolfsson’s stores provide is surprisingly complimentary. At a customer’s request, he will send out a team of specialists up to three times a year for thirty (yes, thirty!) years to flip and massage your bed at no cost.

I'm looking for a 2 door coupe type car as a 2nd car as the wife and I sharing 1 car is now becoming a bit of an issue. Typically look for 3 year old cars so most the depreciation is out of the way, although I could be persuaded for a newer model if there's really been some advanced features that make a difference. Generally tend to like German cars, recs?

My dad has a couple year old BMW 2 Series that he got for right around $22k if that’s what you mean by 2 door coupe. They are really nice cars and have an okay amount of room in the backseat, though you would by no means want to regularly use it to transport 4 people. I’ve driven it and it’s reasonably sporty — they have both M and convertible options depending on your preferences and price range.

I wonder how plama decides when to post on stugotz

reminds me of moonz with his Kanye account

So I really love my nest doorbell cam. It answers so many questions. So our cats' litter box is in the basement near the basement door that leads out to the front of our house under our stoop to the main front door. because we're lazy, we'll just scoop the poop and put the little poop bags in a larger bag that we'll take to the corner whenever we leave the house. So my wife went to put a bag of poop out there and saw the larger bag missing and the gate to get to the basement door open. She asked if I took the poop to the corner and I said no. So I scrolled through my doorbell video and found that around 1:00 am some rando dude walked by the house, saw the bag out of the corner of his eye and decided he wanted to get in on that action. Package thieves are a HUGE problem in my neighborhood, so the fact that someone would take something isn't all that surprising. But here I got to see the look on this prick's face when he got the bag up to the sidewalk and started rummaging through it only to realize all he had was a big bag of shit. Though the strangest part about it is that he did take the whole thing with him and didn't throw it on the ground or back under our stoop, even once he knew what it was.

these facebook ad boycotts are wild

who knew starbucks was the 6th largest advertiser on fb?

Can't go wrong with one of the bed-in-a-box companies. We've got an original Leesa, since the internet said it was average firmness compared to the other brands. It's memory foam, but you don't really sink down into it, and they now have different versions that have springs like traditional mattresses.

Biggest plus is not having to go to a mattress store or set up a delivery time. It just shows up in a box at your door.

I'm not concerned at all about ease of delivery, or going to a store, or anything like that... I want something that I can spend 8 hours a night on and wake up feeling great. Right now, I wake up and my back immediately starts screaming at me.

I am very skeptical of the bed-in-a-box companies... There are like zero barriers to entry and I know a lot of it is shitty quality.

Leesa is probably great... But I have no idea.
