Chicago Cubs Thread - Playoff Push Pending

A nice throw by Schwarber, catch and tag by Contreras and call by the home plate ump get overturned by a new rule. Cost the Cubs two runs. Nice performance by Joe. Good time to argue and get thrown out, maybe wake up the bats.
 
Cubs looked tired. Probably to be expected given the intensity of the NLDS and the extended journey to LA. Dodger pitching as well.

Glad to see Lackey pitch well. The bullpen could benefit from a tough, experienced veteran stepping up in the postseason.
 
Well, this is a fine hole the Cubs have dug for themselves. Dodgers hold serve at home.

To come back in this series the Cubs need to score runs. With the exception of the 9-8 clincher vs the Nats, they have scored 11 runs in six games. No plate discipline, no need for the Dodgers to throw strikes. Too good a staff to make life easy for them. Too big a task for a tired Cub staff to overcome.

So much for catching lightening in the Lackey bottle.

Why didn't we bring Wade in?

I'm sure Lackey wanted the ball. Buy why did Madden give it to him.
 
Joe said Wade was pretty limited and thus he was saving him for a save situation. I thought managers had learned to never do that again after last year's playoffs, but perhaps not
 
I would say pitch Davis in the ninth regardless. If our bullpen had been reliable that would be one thing, but he's been almost the only guy we can reliably count on

Unbelievable. 4 pitch walk to Darvish with the bases loaded and him doing nothing more than showing bunt. Edwards and this entire team are shook.

We need another veteran hitter. Worried Zobrist may be washed.

And Heyward needs to GTFO
 
This team missed Dexter Fowler. Not surprisingly. Best Cubs lead off hitter since...Kenny Lofton? Schwarber taking the year off didn't help either.
