Clawson

it is truly nuts the scrutiny that you guys are putting clawson under. the guy has a proven track record, seems genuinely excited about being at wake, and has started an upturn in recruiting that we haven't seen in a while. he'll soon have a new facility to sell to recruits, and some ACC experience. why do y'all want to give him the hook? just get used to the fact that it's going to take a bit of time and don't sweat the small stuff.

I missed the game last night. What are the in-game mistakes Clawson made that people are unhappy with?

On the first TD drive we gave up two third and longs playing really conservatively (rushing two guys). Would have liked a TO after two plays of their second TD drive where we just seemed out of sorts.

Didn't love the offensive play calling but watching live that's probably more results driven.

It's completely dumb to "give him the boot" but basic end of half game management isn't a skill that experienced college football coaches should need time to develop the way, say, assembling a competent OL is.

In the spring we should have 3 healthy QBs. Kearns and his arm and head should have every opportunity to win the job. Clawson likes accuracy and strong arms and Kearns can actually see over the OL.

Being on their side of the field twice at the end of the game and not getting a point from it is absolutely on the coaching staff.

But please, make more excuses for them. It's what this board does best.

We are such fucking losers

We ran up the middle on first down and passed on second down almost every set of downs . The lack of creativity on offense is concerning. Maybe runs to the edge and orbit sweeps would not be big gainers but you have to keep the defense honest. Second and 7 every time sucks . The blitz then comes and we are in third and long. It was like a broken record .

Well if nothing else, Clawson said he's hitting the road recruiting this week instead of making tee times.

At Wake Forest the "next year" we keep waiting for never seems to come. Just the same old mess recycled over and over.

It's almost as if everybody forgets middle of the season what they say before the year. Yes it's frustrating, but this is year two of a multi year program build. We are playing nearly exclusively freshmen and sophomores on offense.

Hopefully next year we can go beyond beating Army, our FCS opponent and winning an oogly-oogly-oogly ACC game

Dude, you know everything except "fire the coach" is just excuse-making.

I think Clawson is doing a very good job, comparatively to past efforts. Two tipped passes for INT; our last one, 3rd, where our WR should have become a better defender, etc. However, our radio guy, Elrod?, noted that on 1st down 22 came in to rush, and did; on 2nd down on, 27 came in as better pass blocker - that happened almost continually. Maybe LU noticed too, they seemed to and be ready. He also said, LU had 2 DBs that were prior starters at UGA. Our receivers were covered pretty well. They have to get open and we notice if opponents are on to our habits. Likely will not matter until we get to Duke, but really would like to get that one.

OL- we lose 1 right? What do we have in guys red-shirting and incoming recruits? We are a better team than last year and making progress, but so are others. If he was doing better he would be so hot for the open jobs. I'm not overly disappointed with our season, so far.

ALL in for Clawson......HE IS THE REAL DEAL!! If you give him an O-Line we would be bowling in December.....

Clawson has been in charge for 600 days and we have gone from 125th in rushing to 115th. For those who care, they're all 3*s or guys who beat out 3*s. I'd fire Tabacca tomorrow, and put the OL on the blocking sled until the next game. The Carolina Panthers motto is "We'll run it when we want to, we'll run it when we need to, and we'll run it when they know we need to." You can't power run in two point stances, with tight splits, and have play fakes that last until the guards butt is backed into the handoff. This is a complete failure of offensive philosophy. When the ship sinks it's the captains fault.

Agree with this. Imagine if we had the early Grobe years OL production. While results were not great, it was awesome to consistently control the LOS against superior opponents.

Oh, and the running back chopping feet, delayed handoff play is AWFUL.

Agree....definition of insanity here. Who cares if "the O-line is so bad that....blah....blah....blah...." The lack of creativity after the snap is mind-boggling.

We have a very good QB in Hinton, I believe a potential Russell Wilson (he is just a freshman and look at how he's been able to play when given adequate minutes.) We and the coaching staff are underestimating him. He plays bad only when he doesn't have time to get the feel for the game. May be the best overall combo QB in Wake history, IMO. Kid can play the game but figuring out why the staff doesn't see him as earning the start after midway through the season is truly mind blowing.

"GIVE him" an offensive line? He must recruit and develop an offensive line of his own. The jury is still out on that.

It is all about the o-line

The issue is that Clawson and staff have to recruit an offensive line..........no one is going to give him an offensive line. The best skill position players are going to underperform in the current situation.
