Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

wow. Clemson licking their chops with Noles, heels and pack a cursing…..
If you think about it if they structure it in a way so much chunkier payouts for ACC champ and any cfp appearance you could make it so the top 2-4 teams make as much or more as sec for top football teams each year. Sure Noles will keep whining and be furious as the future of ACC further solidified and their buyout massive for another 7+ years without any hope of an exit.

Yeah article said it may be going in to a separate pot that would be distributed differently than the rest of ACC funds. So might be trying to keep FSU happy from this side pot.
No way no how. It will only be a pay for performance and fsu will not like it as they want guaranteed money, but guessing Clemson jumps at it. They don’t need fsu’s vote. Just one of the other 3 and seems like a big pot of gold for Clemson to turn down the way they have been the dominant team.

So if you made it so any team going to cfp gets the full 6mm cfp payout and then say an outsized portion of 70+mm from new teams for winning conference - let’s say 25mm then the ACC champ could be looking at $60+mm while the other top teams making bowl games and maybe some bball incentive payouts so 45mm for other 6-8 schools so closer to 40mm for schools doing well. Feels a lot better for everyone especially if you are confident in your teams success.

Not even close…Arnie is the King
Man, I toyed with posting a "Bobby Jones would like a word" take but backed off because I thought it might be too spicy. This makes me feel more grounded.

In football??? The UnC in chapel hill?? Might want to check your math as hasnt been recently. Did they have a meh year with near losses vs app, Duke, and wf in a miserable coastal? Yes but nothing to hang your hat on with a miserable D year after year.
ACC title game last year. We are hanging our hat on same in 2021.

FSU - the good news is that we are implementing a disparagement clause, any school so doing loses $10 million a year. So your exit fee is lower!

The bad news is if you perform really well, your revenue will be through the roof - not so rough - and your exit costs - if you perform - will be $1B not $500 million.

If you shut your mouths and suck, then the exit costs are the regular half billion.

A buffet of choices and outcomes!

Bobby Jones was the ACC’s best golfer.

Raymond Floyd is closer to Arnie than Arnie was to Jones.

Colin Morikowa (Cal) may end up on the Floyd/Arnie tier (several majors but way fewer than 10)

Where will Tiger Woods rank when Stanford joins?

Max Homa. ACC Legend.

I'm surprised you didn't jump on Bryson DeChambeau as the obvious ascender to the highest tiers.

Payne Stewart is another good one.

Also, what about Brooks Koepka, who has three more majors than Morikowa, though he is 7 years older ?

pretty cool to have the Pony Express, John Elway, and Beast Mode joining fellow ACC legends Doug Flutie, Dan Marino, and Vinny Testaverde.
