You'd be amazed how comfortable an actual life lived off the internet can make you, when compared to the opinions of people whose actual lives afford them the, shall we say availability?, to post 100,000 times on a single internet message board. Makary has expressed skepticsm about covid vaccines, especially for children, and believes that Fauci and other mainstream public health officials have "overemphasized" vaccinations to the exclusion of "recognizing the role of therapeutics and natural immunity." Youngkin and the new VA GOP State Attorney General have pledged to fight any federal vaccine mandates to protect the "freedom" of Virginians. He's not a Trumper at all.

Makary published an Op-Ed in the WSJ which said we were very close to herd immunity in August

of 2020
 
Republicans like herd immunity from getting COVID. They don’t like herd immunity from getting vaccinated and not getting COVID.
 
Ugh, this is going to be a mess. Our school system in Virginia just sent a "we're still 100% masking" email and said they're reviewing the Youngkin executive order. Same with our basketball league that has the GOP Senator and his kids that are 100% anti-mask and have already caused multiple confrontations. Our numbers have been surprisingly good despite Omicron to this point - can't wait to see it all go down the fucking toilet to appease rural Virginia Trump lovers.
