I now get to partake in a great new Halloween tradition, raiding my kid's candy haul.

i was explaining how taxes work vis a vis candy and my daughter basically shrugged and was on board for a 20% tax rate but my wife found the whole thing unamusing

OK... Need recommendations on two products that I've heard good things about.

Vuori Joggers - Which style is the best? I want the elastic on the bottom (as opposed to an open style, if that makes sense). Any issues with my being 6'2" & 205lbs?

GCI Outdoor Rockers - Which model is the best? Price is not a concern.

BONUS: I need a better home office chair. Would like a version that is all mesh (similar to Aeron chair), but not as expensive. Is there anything that's any good out there? Or do I just pay the extra for the actual Aeron?

TIA!

Three years ago I bought an Aeron chair for my office because of how much time I spend in it. It’s been a massive change.

During the pandemic I brought it home and now that we are back in the office I got a second one for the office.

Definitely extravagant but the difference in back pain and overall comfort more than makes up for it.

at least you aren't like people like Don Jr. and other conservative comedians who take all their kids' candy and are like "that's socialism for ya !"

the candy haul is so much better than when I was a kid. everything was legit good, name brand stuff. i didn't have to toss anything. zero tootsie pops

one house gave out full-size toblerones. wtf

I love that price is not a concern for an outdoor rocking chair, but for a home office chair (that you will spend WAY more time sitting in) price is indeed a concern.

I thought that as I was writing it, but the GCI Rockers are all between like $60-$150... So I just meant that any of them would be fine. The high end of an office chair is in the thousands.

time for the annual boots discussion

which boots are you guys loving these days?

Insulated Bean Boots for wet/snow days (though I am looking for a proper pair of snow boots)

Red Wing Weekender Moc for everything else

My company donates a lot to organizations working to mitigate climate change, and we do a lot to mitigate our own footprints, including a lot of water reuse, solar power, etc. My previous company was heavily invested in mitigating climate change through its forestry programs, production standards, and products. I've thought about getting a Masters in Sustainability, I think it would serve me well.

Seems like a great way to do good, positive work within your existing industry.

this is the correct answer - though Bean Boots's soles have piss poor traction for ice/slippery conditions

I've had a pair for almost 25 years and they're still going strong. Though maybe boots made today aren't as well made, no idea.

What is the fabric of the cushion? Is it leather or leather-like? I think I'd prefer something that is 100% mesh (not just the back), but this could work.

not leather or leather-like

it's fabric fabric, cotton or whatever

My Bean boots were probably the most useful item I owned when we lived in the northeast and walked to work. Although as you say they low key have terrible traction so I took one or two pretty aggressive falls when drinking.
