The Wynn and Wright departures may have been the mathematical tipping point for some academic performance metric in the contract.

If Currie had "done his job" a year ago as you have strongly stated he should have and fired Manning, who would you have recommended that he hire? It would not have been Forbes, as he was coming off a 24-10 season, 3rd place in the SoCon, and a 1st-round exit from the CIT. So again, who was "your guy" at the time, and do you think he would have had a fairly strong interest in coming to Wake, and if so was it realistic that in his short tenure Currie should have had the resources lined up to both pay off Manning and bring your guy in?
