Deacs/Gardner Webb Game Thread

Carson is never going to be a back to the basket player or a good rebounder. When we get the right personnel hopefully he'll be what we intended him to be, a pick-and-pop type high post player.

It would be great to have an All-ACC center, but let's start with a serviceable ACC center.

If Carson became a 'good' center that could clog up the middle and clean up the garbage, that would be ok.

Really don't see him becoming that kind of player. Doesn't mean he can't be a successful player though.

And if we want to talk about development of big men. At the end of his soph year, people here had written off Big E as a McD AA flop. By the end of his jr year he was on some NBA draft boards.

CJ has now made as many 3 pointers as he did all of last season. Pretty crazy. Shooting at a 50% clip right now.

Who the hell did this? He went for 19 in the sweet 16 game.

Wonder what the attendance will be on the 29th.

No one. Deac83 is a moron.

Plus, look at the first year or so for guys like Visser, Danelius, McFarland (Yup, I'm comparing him to our other gangly "project player" goofy white bros). I think he has time to improve yet.

Also don't know what this is about. In 17 mpg, Vytas averaged 6.6 and 4.2 on 56.6% shooting as a frosh, then was All-ACC his sophomore year. Carson averaged 4 and 3.2 in on 39% shooting as a frosh, and is getting 5.5 and 5 on 45% shooting against our scrub schedule this year.

Of course nobody thought Big E was not living up to his McD AA status.

Just as nobody here said Josh Howard was a team cancer in his soph year.

Selective memory at it's best.

Carson can still be very good and be better than Viss or Vytas his senior year. He's being asked to do things that aren't his strengths, and before he has a chance to fully develop physically. On most teams, he'd be the back up 4 or 5 at this stage, and play 15 minutes behind the starter, and be very effective and active for his time on the floor. But he, Wake and Buzz don't have that luxury now, though we might now if Ty plays well. Carson has a lot of skills, but being a lane clogger/banger is not one of them. His game is more like Vytas' than Visser's.
