Diamond Deacs 2019 (Offseason) | 5 Deacs Drafted

I agree - but how many 6-out saves can Fleming give us? and other than Menendez, what other arm do we trust?
Pretty much by hook or crook the same way we have all year. Hopefully win a slugfest and have one well pitched game that we win

It would be nice if BC and VT could finish just inside the top 50 of the RPI. That would give us 4 more quad 1 wins. Just win though and it should take care of itself. I still don't understand how we moved up 6 spots after that loss to High Point.

Yeah, we have a history of using guys for 3-inning saves (Roberts, Supple, and now Fleming). Not saying it is a bad strategy, especially if you have an ace and want to win that Friday night game and go into most ACC series up 1-0. Ace-to-closer is hard to beat.

But for us, there is a clear lack of depth in the pen. So if when we would use Fleming friday and he throws 3 innings, we may only have him for an inning or two on Sunday.

Hopefully we begin to the effects of Hendricks and the new pitching lab next year.

We are in the last five in on d1baseball, last four our on BA.

Huge series starting tonight. It's Friday, Saturday and Sunday which should be good for us given our lack of pitching depth plus should allow us to keep Harvey out of the lineup.

Fri/Sat/Mon

apparently the Canes want to explore Pilot Mountain on Sunday

that was our chance. with “only” 5 runs given up, this is a game you’d hope we’d win

Miami had 6 lefthanded bats in the lineup and Walter stuck with his right handed starter for a third time through the order, at which point the Canes put the game out of reach

2 on in 8th with no outs: STRIKEOUT. Bases loaded with one out in 8th: STRIKEOUT. After bases-loaded walk gives us a run then bases loaded in 8th with 2 outs: STRIKEOUT. You can't win when you can't hit with men on base.

Right... A couple of timely hits would have been huge. Hope we get at least one in this series.

True, compared to what we wish it was. But, yesterday the hitting was more to blame than our usual with the missed opportunities, like in the 8th. Miami had more hits and we did get out of several jams to stay in striking distance. Hope it goes better today.

I don’t understand how Shuster hasn’t been better, he looks like a major leaguer out there between his frame and stuff. Wonder if Hendricks and the staff just stink at calling pitches.

Miami has good pitching. You can't regularly give up 7 or more runs every game and expect to compete at this level.

all of our top pitchers have horribly regressed. I don't know if this pitching lab has gotten into their heads or the new pitching coach, but something isn't working.
