DNC Live Commentary

"The president called three times to speak with Boehner about his latest offer, according to Woodward. But the speaker didn't return the president's phone call for most of an agonizing day, in what Woodward calls a "monumental communications lapse" between two of the most powerful men in the country.

When Boehner finally did call back, he jettisoned the entire deal. Obama lost his famous cool, according to Woodward, with a "flash of pure fury" coming from the president; one staffer in the room said Obama gripped the phone so tightly he thought he would break it.

"He was spewing coals," Boehner told Woodward, in what is described as a borderline "presidential tirade."

"He was pissed…. He wasn't going to get a damn dime more out of me. He knew how far out on a limb I was. But he was hot. It was clear to me that coming to an agreement with him was not going to happen, and that I had to go to Plan B."

Being lied to and hung out to dry like the weak ass Boehner had done would make the calmest person pissed.

This is the same Boehner who embarrassed Obama's coming to The Hill to meet about The Stimulus by telling him he would get no votes no matter what Obama did.

Boehner is a lying pussy.

And you have been a total fucking idiot the entire time. If you graduated from either Wake Forest undergrad of Wake Forest Law schools, both schools should be ashamed of themselves.

A tad cranky I think. Not everyone is a socialist, Bob.

He wasn't getting that deal. Cantor and Ryan would have NEVER let that happen. Boehner cared more about remaining Speaker than keeping his word and doing the deal.

Anyone who thinks the Republican House would have raised over $1T in revenues to help Obama make that deal is delusional.

During the campaign EVERY Republican stated they wouldn't have accepted a $10 in cuts to $1 in tax increases. To think a 2.5/1 deal would have ever been allowed to pass is illogical.

The GOP wanted the credit rating to go down. They thought if it did it would kill Obama.

The premise of this book is flawed unless it is Obama was naive to even try to trust Boehner.

Isn't that the definition of amateur?

This thread is calling for the debate scene from Head of State. It's worth it to listen to the , but here's the relevant clip.
