The biggest lie in the whole thing is where he pretends he cares about members of his family and that they are capable of feeling emotions.
I don't think it's a massive risk for Dem reps who got elected because Trump sucks to vote to impeach Trump.
As I’ve said on many occasions, I think the evidence points inexorably in favor of impeachment and removal.
However, I think requiring Bolton and others to testify would have given pubs cover to vote to impeach / convict. There’s an article on CNN right now quoting McConnell as arguing house dems didn’t call witnesses with enough personal knowledge to sustain the case and pubs aren’t going to fix their mistakes. I think that’s bullshit, but it’s an easy argument for senate pubs to hide behind and dems shouldn’t have given it to them.

They're already running anti Spanberger ads here, tying her to "The squad". It's weird to me that the party that, for years, list big government as the problem is now listing all of the wonderful things Congress could be doing instead of impeaching the president.

The witnesses called had plenty of first hand knowledge of the events in question. Bolton was just another guy in the room.
Do you even believe what you’re writing? You’re just clinging to impossible hypotheticals. Additionally your whole argument is simply blaming the Dems for not forcing the GOP to be adults with spines. How pathetic.
Three months from the time Nixon filed suit to the decision. Late April to July 24.
Kupperman filed suit on October 26. Three months is late January.
Also, US v Nixon was decided when lawyers and law clerks used books, typewriters, and lacked teams of associates chomping at the bit to participate in something like this. There is no doubt this would’ve taken less time than a similar issue in 1974.
Look, I get that the dems didn’t want the impeachment drama to take coverage away from their primary. That’s a fine political calculation, but compromising principles has consequences. You’re going to have a hard time convincing the country with testimony from civil servants the vast majority of the populous has never heard of.
