Those are endowed scholarships, not scholarships supplied from the University Endowment

Wake has endowed scholarships too, and one of our goals is to endow all of them

Most schools maintain separate athletic and academic endowments. The Deacon Club has about $32 million in scholarship endowment money. The Ram Club at u*NC has about $240 million. Duke has about $200million in athletics endowment.



Most schools don't mix athletic scholarship funds with university endowment funds. So either the $5 billion was not athletics money, or the speaker was inartfully lumping academic and athletics endowments.
