First Charges Filed in Mueller Investigation

I certainly understand the position that any president who would be indicted while sitting in office would theoretically have enough damning evidence against them that Congress would impeach the president rendering the indictment unnecessary. In this regard, there wouldn't be a question of partisanship or an "attempted deep state coup." However Donald and the GOP - like plenty of times over the past few years - continue to ignore, flaunt, and erode our institutions.

A that’s a big problem. One thing the trump presidency is showing us is that much of the stability of our government is built on the honorable men doing the “right thing” (to preserve our “democracy” at least) for about 230 years out of our 242 years as a country.

So, in your world, POTUS can sell his position to the highest bidder and not go to jail. He can steal or kill and be above the law.

You don't want a POTUS. You want a king or dictator who is above the law.

Got it!

he only wants this if it is a Rep. if this was a Dem he would be crying about everything.

he cannot think for himself so he just does whatever Fox says

To be fair, Republicans have been showing that for years.

This.

"Mueller complained that Barr’s letter did not capture ‘context’ of Trump probe"

"Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III wrote a letter in late March complaining to Attorney General William P. Barr that a four-page memo to Congress describing the principal conclusions of the investigation into President Trump “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of Mueller’s work, according to a copy of the letter reviewed Tuesday by The Washington Post.

At the time the letter was sent on March 27, Barr had announced that Mueller had not found a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russian officials seeking to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. Barr also said Mueller had not reached a conclusion about whether Trump had tried to obstruct justice, but Barr reviewed the evidence and found it insufficient to support such a charge.

Days after Barr’s announcement, Mueller wrote a previously unknown private letter to the Justice Department, which revealed a degree of dissatisfaction with the public discussion of Mueller’s work that shocked senior Justice Department officials, according to people familiar with the discussions.

“The summary letter the Department sent to Congress and released to the public late in the afternoon of March 24 did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions,” Mueller wrote. “There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation. This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations.”

The letter made a key request: that Barr release the 448-page report’s introductions and executive summaries, and made some initial suggested redactions for doing so, according to Justice Department officials.

Justice Department officials said Tuesday they were taken aback by the tone of Mueller’s letter, and it came as a surprise to them that he had such concerns. Until they received the letter, they believed Mueller was in agreement with them on the process of reviewing the report and redacting certain types of information, a process that took several weeks. Barr has testified to Congress previously that Mueller declined the opportunity to review his four-page letter to lawmakers that distilled the essence of the special counsel’s findings."

Time to impeach Barr for lying to Congress and covering up for Trump.

I think Nadler should call Mueller on the same day as Barr.

Put Barr's fat ass in the Capitol jail...

Nadler has just demanded the letter and that Mueller testify.

This could get to be fun.

Mueller should have released a statement the day Barr gave his false four page summary.

Seriously. Respect for the law and process helps powerful people trample all over it.

He was (is?) still an employee of the DOJ then. This is apparently the protocol for an employee doing such a thing.

Shocked by this. Completely shocked that the corrupt AG installed by the corrupt POTUS under investigation sought to mischaracterize the investigation’s findings.

Anyone in the Senate who voted to confirm this dickbag should be voted out of office.

Barr, North. Holdovers from Iran-Contra.
