His dad is Joh Idzik, former front office guy, who always seemed to bring in a bunch of Wake guys as undrafted free agents every year.Smart. The only other QBs on the roster are Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask. Also, Tampa's WR's coach is Brad Idzik. Idzik transferred from Lehigh to WF in 2012 as a walk-on, and Idzik was a teammate of Wolford's at WF. Guessing Idzik lobbied for Wolford. Idzik and Bucs OC Dave Caneles just moved from the Seattle Seahawks to Tampa over this off-season. Both Canales (QB Coach to OC) and Idzik (assistant WR Coach to WR coach) received promotions to move to Tampa.
There are so many spots and so many people who have played at any level and so many entry points into coaching and front office jobs.Is the NFL the worst nepotism sport or is it just because the front offices and number of coaching spots is so many?
Of the 717 current on-field coaches in the NFL, at least 93 coaches (13%) have a father, son or brother who is a current or former NFL coach. Of those 93 coaches with confirmed connections, 76 are white (81.7%). Seven head coaches this season are either the son or father of a former NFL coach. Is the NFL the worst nepotism sport or is it just because the front offices and number of coaching spots is so many?
I find it odd that LA didn't keep him. He played well there and was going to start that playoff game over Goff before his injury. TB is a great landing spot for him.John Wolford now with the bucs.
They replaced John and Bryce Perkins as backups with Rypien from Denver (Boise State) and S. Bennet rookie out of Georgia.Rypien bigger guy and Bennett could be a real sleeper. Like you though I think John is better off in TB. Got to stay healthy.I find it odd that LA didn't keep him. He played well there and was going to start that playoff game over Goff before his injury. Yeah I read it and thought well yeah that doesn’t seem like muchThe description undersells the accomplishment.
Just rolled thru Twitter seems like Wolford is having a decent camp (?)
