• Welcome to OGBoards 10.0, keep in mind that we will be making LOTS of changes to smooth out the experience here and make it as close as possible functionally to the old software, but feel free to drop suggestions or requests in the Tech Support subforum!

Hearthstone Thread FTMFW - 4/7 Ashes of Outland release - New Demon Hunter class!

Once I get settled in to Charleston I'll see if I can set something up.

I know HTTD likes manning these types of things from time to time, so I will see if he's interested in assisting.

We never even finished the last one. It was a too-large round robin.

Competition format

The 11 entrants will play a 10 match round-robin tournament to determine the OGboards Champion.

After all competitors have played their 10 matches, the poster with the best overall match record will be crowned champion. In the case of a tie, the best overall record (by percentage) in all games played will determine the winner. If two entrants remain tied, then the head-to-head result will determine the champion.

Each match will be a best-of-five game series using the conquest format. Participants should prepare three decks (with three different classes) for the entire competition. The deck classes should be PMed before the tournament starts. After all 11 groups are submitted, then they will be posted to the thread. Changing your decklist after the tournament has started is prohibited.

Each best-of-five game series should be played in one challenge session if at all possible. Naturally, you will need to friend all of your opponents, as well. Afterward, please report the result to the thread (ex. Entrant A won 3-1 or Entrant B won 3-2).

Schedule

All matches will be completed by Friday, December 4th at 10pm EST. It is up to each pair of competitors to friend each other and find a mutual time to complete their match within the specified week.

By Monday, November 9th at 10pm EST: Submit three classes to Allen Covert
Week 1: Two Match Dates (1, 2) to be completed by Friday, November 13th at 10pm EST
Week 2: Three Match Dates (3, 4, 5) to be completed by Friday, November 20th at 10pm EST

Miscellaneous Guidelines
-You may spectate other competitive games, but any entrant reserves the right to boot you from watching and you should refrain from table talk.
-It’s on everyone to practice sportsmanlike conduct (not changing your decks, intentionally losing, having friends help while spectating, BMing etc.). This is just for fun, after all.

Next Steps

Before the competition can begin, a few steps:

1) Everyone needs to review and affirm these guidelines.
2) Everyone needs to friend/add everyone else.
3) Everyone needs to PM their three classes by Monday, November 9th at 10pm EST at the latest (Note: Mech is not a class).

Not sure if this is ever going to get finished, but here are the near-final standings and table. Thanks to everyone for participating!

I think Pool Play and then a single bracket with a Best of 5 series would be the way to go.

Two pods of four
Round Robin (Best of 5 series)
4 teams make the playoffs
Single Elim Best of 5
1A vs. 2B/1B vs. 2A

IIRC that's more or less how the first tournament went. Just played with fewer decks, and all 8 made the playoffs like,

1A
4B

2B
3A

2A
3B

1B
4A

Since the new patch, you can view your ladder wins past 500. Noted Control Warrior specialist Fibonacci...

And a Priest specialist.

Kripp is pushing the disenchant button tonight and destroying the servers.

Tried Dragon priest without Lyra and went 0-5. Elise fared Perry well in purify priest. Lyra would work well in that deck.

At this point, I have all the commons and almost all the rates. I have 300 gold and 4200 dust. I can't decide if I should buy more packs for dust or just save the gold.

Im leaning toward buying more packs for dust since I essentially started this expansion with no gold and am sitting at 5 legendaries for it.

I have to imagine that Lyra will always hold a place in wild control priest. I wouldn't hesitate to craft, but just opinion

I wish Hunter were in a better spot right now. I'm trying to grind out wins with Rexxar, but it's awful. Standard is bad, Arena is worse, and Wild is ugly.

Standard is hit or miss for me with Hunters. I've yet to make a deck that can consistently beat Quest Warrior right now.

Elise is such a good card. I recently put her in my Shaman deck and every time I end up in a game where I draw the Ungoro pack, I get something very helpful that ends up winning me the game.

A bit. I keep thinking I need a new deck and then I'll go on a tear with my Elemental Shaman. I tried Aggro Druid and couldn't get any traction with that. I'm tempted to craft patches and go easywin warrior. I think I'll probably just wait for next expansion to do anything.

Didn't Blizzard say they were going to release three expansions a year?

Year's already halfway over and we only have one and have heard NOTHING about the next one.

I hate that they aren't doing the adventures anymore. Those were a lot of fun. I think it would be a lot easier on players to keep up with decent legendaries if they alternated between adventures and expansions.

Allegedly, there is single player content coming, in addition to the next set. I'm guessing late July/early August, and then final set in December.

I've been playing mid-range hunter and that's probably the deck that it has the most trouble with. It's funny because, if I see Warrior, I know it's going to be pretty easy (Pirate) or insanely difficult (Taunt).
