hillary is a pathological liar

I am certainly no fan of Hillary, but she has not violated any criminal statutes. Her judgment? Well, that's what the election is about.

That is something the FBI's criminal investigation will determine.

Like you, sailor, BKF, or the others will actually accept the determination of the investigation.

"The latest poll shows that 20% of Americans believe Obama was born outside the United States, with 9% saying there is solid evidence to prove it and 11% saying it is just their suspicion."

Can someone explain to me what the actual issue is surrounding the emails? Was it just that they were on a private server? If so, did that somehow have negative consequences for the country?

Yes. They were supposed to be on a confidential server, and because they were not, they could have been compromised. Now they cannot find a lot of them because they were deleted/destroyed.

I guess people are just afraid that she's hiding some big deal when frankly when you are leader of the free world it probably isn't a bad thing to be ruthless and untrustworthy as long as the country is safe and the economy is good.

I'm afraid she's going to tap dance her way through this. The FBI investigation will result in a blistering recital of facts that reflect poor judgement on her part but will not be enough for a criminal indictment. Loretta Lynch will not appear to have done anything wrong since she recused herself from the decision. The Clinton's declare another victory against the so-called right wing conspiracy and her campaign gains momentum. Meanwhile, the DOJ continues to allow the State Dept. to stonewall FOIA requests concerning emails that reveal the intertwined relationship between the Clinton Foundation and Hillary as SOS. She gets elected in November and we later learn what we already knew; that she and Bill are the most corrupt Washington insiders of all time. The country will be far better off when they are both dead and buried.

oh my, really? Who is second and third?

So no harm was actually done as a result? This all seems to be a whole bunch of nothing. Still don't understand why she wouldn't use a government issued email though - why create even the possible appearance of impropriety?

A big part is that they can't be subject to a FOIA request now, no?

That and, even if you could file a FOIA request, there's nothing to request because so many emails are deleted and missing. At best, this whole situation is another example of Clinton's questionable judgment (and the Clinton family's legendary arrogance).

Maybe no crime was committed, but y'all commielibs would be going nuts if Dick Cheney pulled something like this.

"Not long after George W. Bush assumed the presidency in 2001, Rove, his top political aide, set up a private email server for use in the White House. The stated purpose of the system — the primary domain name on which was gwb43.com — was that it would be used exclusively for the sort of political correspondence that Bush and Rove were not permitted to do on the taxpayer’s dime.

Seven years later, Bush and Rove were embroiled in two competing scandals — the Valerie Plame scandal, in which operatives for Vice Pres. Dick Cheney, including Rove and Scooter Libby, were accused of unmasking Valerie Plame, a CIA specialist in the black market for weapons of mass destruction, for purely partisan reasons, and the U.S. Attorney purge, in which Rove’s political operation in the White House was accused of ordering Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to purge eight U.S. attorneys who were qualified prosecutors and replace them with political hacks with little or no prosecutorial experience.

Rove escaped prosecution in the Libby case, but Libby was convicted (Bush quickly commuted the sentence) on March 6, 2007, at the same time Bush and Rove were under fire for purging the U.S. attorneys. During the investigation, it came to light that Rove’s server had been used to send official, non-political emails — correspondence that was required by law to be preserved under the Presidential Records Act.

On April 12, 2007, Rove’s operation admitted that it had deleted at least 5 million emails from the server. In December 2009, technicians who had examined the server reported that the number of emails that had been deleted was far greater — 22 million."

It was most likely an attempt to get around FOIA requests. And apparently the security was a joke, which made it possible for hackers (possibly including the Chinese, Russians, and Israelis) to gain access to confidential, secret, and top secret emails. Keep in mind that Hillary has repeatedly said she "can't wait" to cooperate and get to the bottom of the issue. Well, when the Inspector General was looking into this Clinton and her aides refused to cooperate. There have been a number of outright lies Clinton and her allies have spread surrounding this issue. She claimed that what she did was allowed- the Inspector General report makes clear it was not and if she had sought permission to do what she did it would have been denied. When her server and personal Blackberry were down she would have documents read aloud to her instead of using a government issued Blackberry- where the messages would have been subject to FOIA requests. When she realized she was going to have to turn over emails she decided which ones were relevant and which ones were personal and deleted tens of thousands of them. The thing is, we know some of those that were deleted should have been turned over because other people had copies of some of them on their computers.
