Elton John will not perform at Donald J. Trump’s inauguration in January, contrary to a report from a member of Mr. Trump’s transition team, a publicist for the singer said on Wednesday.

Anthony Scaramucci, the member of the presidential transition team, made the claim during an interview on the BBC program “HARDtalk” this week. But Fran Curtis, the publicist for the British singer, issued a strong denial by email:

“Incorrect. He will NOT be performing.”

Bubba's a POS as a human being and many don't like his politics, but a guy from Hope, AR who becomes a Rhodes Scholar and two term POTUS is a ringing endorsement of American exceptionalism and meritocracy, just like astronauts who grew up in rural America. Huckabee's also from Hope and may end up Ambassador to Israel or FL Governor.

Are we only supposed to celebrate people who grow up in rural America? Do Peyton, Eli, Kobe, and Steph get zero credit because their dads were also pro athletes? Does Bezos get dinged as a CEO because he went to Princeton instead of dropping out of a JC? Economic and social mobility via merit is the goal wherever the starting point is.
