Indiana/Crean model for Wake?

We should have a much better third year than IU had. If we don't [Redacted] should be fired.

If you don't see that our offense isn't significantly better than last year, than you aren't watching with an open mind.

Transition is still awful, but the half court is better most of the time. Sometimes it just stagnates though, and in those cases I wish he would be quicker to call a time out to get the players back to executing properly.

Our transition isn't awful as we don't get but maybe 5-10/game.

What makes it worse is Travis is out of position to fill the lanes. This puts undo pressure on CJ and Tony. Without a lane filler, they must take the ball more than they would normally.

Indiana also had a MUCH worse situation for Crean to step into, after Sampson. People like to say whatever they want about Dino, but there were never any violations or sanctions while he was here. This is a pretty stupid thread all the way around, since about the only thing alike between the two programs is that they both play basketball.

Especially in early games we fairly frequently turned down a transition opportunity to pull back in to the half court.

How a program is in shambles is not that relevant in this case. In fact IU should have had the ability to recover quicker.

Bz will have to recruit much better than he is if he wants to use Crean as a model.

Indiana isn't loaded with blue chip recruits. They only have four RSCI top 100 guys, and one hasn't played this year.

Don't understand the vitriol over what was a pretty simple post about how a historically bad, but young, team can get better fairly quickly.

It's pretty relevant. It took Crean a year to get Indiana where we were [Redacted]'s first year because of all the Sampson related attrition.

Weren't they starting a walk-on Crean's first year and had one or two more playing significant minutes? Our program was never to that point, thankfully.

The whole walk-on thing is just a nice story people like to tell for effect. Kyle Taber was originally a walk-on, but given a scholarship by that time. Taber was in the rotation the previous year (even started four games) when they were a top 25 team. He was a solid player.

We scored 22 points in the first half yesterday. Still a hell of a lot of work to do on offense. And Bz needs to tell Chennault never to shoot 3s again.

We pass it around the perimeter a lot more and take time off the clock....but beyond that our offense is brutal. Probably due to a lack of talent but last night was simply an awful offensive basketball game. Pass it around the perimeter for 25 seconds then miss an outside shot....That is our offense.

The Indiana comparison is also not realistic. The 2 coaches have 2 completely different backgrounds. One has been very sucessful everywhere he has been and has been to a final four at Marquette and the other has never won a tourney game...And in general Wake will never be Indiana.

The only similarity between Wake and Indiana is that Indiana completely sucked for a few years and Wake has now completely sucked for a few years.

At least it was better than the 10 points Wake put up in the first half against Butler in the NCAA tournament in 2001, right?

I didn't get a chance to watch the game yesterday...Was Seton Hall's defense that good or did we just play really badly?

CJ was pretty much the only player effectively penetrating. TC and Chase would try but often not with good results. We missed a lot of open shots when CJ was on the court and missed a lot of bad shots when he wasn't. Not our best offensive performance, not our worst.

Yep- this has essentially been our offense since CP3 left after his soph year and agreed that it is, in fact, brutal to watch.

I remember numerous complaints about terrible half court offense under the old regime. Would have been nice to get an xs and os upgrade.

I think the half court offense under Skip and Dino was solely a product of the PG's strengths and weaknesses.

Agreed. Skip and Dino from an x's and o's standpoint let the PG run the show. If the PG played well so went the offense. Buzzz definitely has a system that the players are running. However, the result of the system seems to be throwing it around the perimeter and taking an outside shot after 30 seconds.
