I'm pretty surprised that this doesn't get more attention than it does. Redskins is, IMO, a lot worse than Warriors, Indians, the tribes's name (except FSU, who actually has the blessing of that tribe) and others that have been changed their mascots over the years.

My people don't get offended by sports mascots. Well, the FSU fans do piss us off a little with their war chant and that stupid chopping motion they do with their arms -- I mean no Native American does that shit. It looks more like they're simulating the motion of pulling the lever on a slot machine, which is racist as hell. Do they think that casinos are all we Native Americans have going for us? Racists!

But we're actually honored that, as an often-overlooked minority, professional and collegiate sports teams choose to honor us in this way. Especially the Braves because they're American's Team, baby! Take that you Irish putzs, nobody likes Notre Dame! And Redskins QB RG3 is one exciting athlete to watch. We just wish the stupid FSU fans would tone it down a little.

If anybody has a right to be offended, its the Ice Fishermen because the Lakers suck ass although they have the highest payroll in the NBA by far. Thats just a disfunctional team.

Is boogity actually native american? I am 1/16th Cherokee, but I think I only got the alcoholic gene, because I am a pale ass mofo - BOOM, it is ok, because I am an injun.

I also use almost every derogatory term in this thread in my daily life because I am a completely unintentional asshole. I have asked my 2 gay friends if they take offense at people using the word (small sample size and all), they said only if it is in a hateful way - in fact, they use it all the time too, but normally in its correct sense "Oh, those shoes are so gay!" instead of "That pass by Philip Rivers was so gay".

Yes, I'm of Native American ancestry, but in bloodline only. I haven't really experienced the culture and never make trips to my ancestral home, so its really not a major factor in defining who I am.

I was just trying to make a humorous response (sorry to those who didn't find it funny) to those who are decidedly not Native American but take it on themselves to tell us what we should be offended by (and I'm not necessarily referring to anything posted on this thread). That most typically occurs whenever the word "Indian" is improperly used, or in the context of sports teams. Its always the same lily-white people who dictate whats offensive to me as the ones who dictate to every other minority or special interest group what they should consider offensive. If you look long enough and hard enough for something that might offend someone, you'll inevitably find it.
