The price of ESPN and most sports channels will skyrocket once bundling goes away. I predict the ESPN package would be closer to 40$ a month than 10.
whatevs, i could go over there! on this note, i don't have HD at the moment and one of my girlfriends was like "good luck ever getting a guy to agree to your place vs. his since you only have SD".
Do you mean like you don't watch the HD channels? How would you not have HD at this point?
I'm as much a fan of a la carte as the next guy, lol at all the n00bs who think the cable companies won't find a way to keep your rates at $150/month. Ohh, so your channel selections amount to $15/month? That's cool, here's a $45/month service fee, a $30/month DVR rental fee, $10/month remote rental fee, and a $50/month piitb fee
people who have HDTVs and HD channels but watch SD "because they know the numbers" don't deserve nice things.
Most HD channels are just the SD channel with a 1 in front, no?
I'm interested in a future without cable companies at all. Cut out the middle man.
I think Time Warner starts the HD's at 1000, but the last 3 numbers mostly line up between SD/HD.
+1. Its coming & sooner than you think.
I've never heard this saying, what does it mean?
I'm guessing because they know the channel number.
Most HD channels are just the SD channel with a 1 in front, no?
Expansion of wi-fi would help with that as well. Once neighborhoods and cities start investing in a more efficient delivery of wi-fi, that will facilitate a more efficient delivery of content. At any time there are 8-10 FIOS routers with 2 bars or more around my home, but each of us are paying separately for the service.
Doesn't help that the cable companies have spent $$$$$$$$$ on lobbying that make it virtually impossible for communities to figure out a better way to connect. We overpay for really subpar service in this country thanks to these assholes having politicians in their back pockets.
I don't think the idea of "channels" would survive. I think we would move from bundled bundles of chronological content to just content.
