Josh Duggar, Pervert

the thing is, though - "reportedly brought to the police after his father saw him leaving an underage girl’s bedroom and learned “something inappropriate” had happened" to them could mean holding hands. i honestly wouldn't be surprised to find out this was some weird scare tactic of 'what could happen' if you try anything before marriage.

...i also wouldn't be surprised to find out the story is as bad as it sounds.

WTF did this family do to become famous other than doing their part to overpopulate the planet?

Let's not act that surprised. Something with that family is seriously fucked up.

So he molested his sisters and the parents then lied about sending him to counseling. Seems about what I'd expect from them.

I can understand opposition to abortion, but there's nothing wrong with family planning/birth control or uniquely heroic about having more than a dozen kids. Social conservatives frequently overreach in their opposition to abortion and elevate people for reasons that often don't make sense.

Did the father report it to the police on his own or did he only respond to questioning from the police after the incident was reported by another party. That part seems to make a big difference IMO. If the dad turned the son in, and had him installed into some sort of counseling then I have a lot more respect for the parents. If it was only reported by an outside source and the dad had to deal with the problem I have less. Sickening topic to even discuss, but parents often have to deal with some pretty terrible mistakes of your kids, and I guess if you had 19 of them the odds aren't exactly with you. I hope I never have to face the dilemma of giving up a child to the police or trying to protect my child. I imagine that would be the most difficult decision a parent would ever have to make.

I don't think anyone sees the Duggars as anything but a sideshow. I am opposed to abortion, but think having 19 kids or failing to implement any child planning (IE: snip snip) is moronic.

Giving up your child who is sexually abusing his sisters is protecting your children.

from what I've pieced together from several different articles, the parents knew about it the first time and did nothing and then it happened again and they said they were going to send him to counseling. Except they didn't actually send him to counseling- they just sent him to work with a family friend restoring a house. And they didn't exactly turn the kid in to the police- they had another family friend who was a state trooper and they sent the boy to him to get a stern talking to. And btw, that family friend state trooper is now doing 50 years hard time for child porn so theres that.

So basically that kid was molesting his sisters who knows how many times and their response was to pray about it and make him get a job.

So this information was just sitting around with the Arkansas State Police? Could TLC have found it out by just looking to see if he Duggars showed up in any state police records?

To be fair the bolded part is very common.

If I'm piecing this together correctly, Jim Bob (how in the fuck is that actually his name?) turned his son in some three years after the incident. The "counseling" they provided was requiring him to go work one summer with a family friend in the construction business. Not exactly world class parents. The lady Duggar also often says how the older children raise the younger children. Yikes.

eta: SC Deac already got it

Probably slightly more involved than that, but maybe not much.
