City has really only been dangerous on corners.

Really like that Liverpool has been able to get a good amount of possession and hasn't conceded the ball to City. They're pressing on defense and really Liverpool have been more threatening for most of the match, though they haven't gotten the cross right to get the attempt on goal, the openings have been there and City seemed less sharp after the own goal.

If Adam had just elevated that ball even a little...it's a goal. Dangit.

Remains to be seen how Liverpool will hold up once City brings on another striker (at least) and goes for it. Liverpool really struggled when Chelsea went all out attack though they did eventually punish it.

I think even is the right score, neither team separated themselves.

Looking forward to the second half.

Well that was about the worst start imaginable other than allowing a goal.

Nice strike, Sami.

Dangit.

Played great, could have won. Progress continues, now need to carry it through against the lesser opponents.

Both keepers were magnificent. Top two players in the match for sure. Reina may have set a PL record for clearances by a goalkeeper. Unbelievable.

Adam and Lucas were very very good as well. Kuyt did a lot of good things also, both in attack and tracking back. Continue to think he and Johnson are a good partnership.

I think Carroll will get more playing time going forward. They needed the possession today and against Chelsea.

I love the 3-man wall at the end when Reina was out. Great hustle, everyone giving it all for the club.

Manchester City can be unsettled. Atkinson allowed a lot of contact and jostling and I think it bothered City more than Liverpool. The time when they had 3 players on the ground at once was really telling, IMO.

Crazy Mario was the wrong sub even before he got sent off. Apparently he got into a row with someone during the joint Adam/Lucas interview on Sky.

Was that the best match of the year in the Premier League? I think it might have been.

Off the top of my head, Chelsea-Arsenal was the most entertaining so far.

You have to be shitting me. Two teams that didn't play a lick of defense = best game? No way. Not even close.

Meh, probably not the best, but most entertaining. I love good defense, but a wide open match can be fun.

Fair enough, though I think today was riveting entertainment. Even though the match was 1-1 and could just as fairly have ended up 0-0, there was plenty of attacking action and moments of drama.

Then again, I like suspense over action, so maybe that says something as well. Getting the payoff at the end would have been awesome though, and put the exclamation point on the effort. It would have driven home to the club just how good they can be. Up to now, Manchester City had given their most dominant efforts against the best clubs they've played: 6-1 against Man U, 5-1 against Spurs, 4-1 against Villa, a 3-1 against Newcastle where the goal against was a pointless consolation effort.

They weren't able to do that today and were really on the ropes. Both teams had possession, both teams played to win, played hard, officiating was strong and let the players battle, and there was action end to end and any of many moments in the match provided a thought that maybe this will be the key one. But there was a counter for every move on either side and a stalemate was the result.

Fabulous game. Easily the best I've seen this year.

Congratulations to the Denver defense on carrying their slackass offense to another close and low-scoring win.

I'll admit I'm fascinated by this whole Tebow thing. To my eye, he appears to actually be a worse passing QB than at UF but I barely saw a team other then Wake

The one thing you can say about Tebow without giving him undue credit is that he isn't losing games for them. By that, I mean he's not turning the ball over and he's letting the defense work.

But there are a lot of NFL QBs that could win games when the defense gives up 15 (with an assist from Tony Sparano being an idiot and chasing a point), 10, 6 (Jets TD was defensive), 13 in 4 of your 6 games.

Aside from two games, Denver's defense has been pretty decent in points allowed, but they've definitely been better after the bye week. You could attribute some of that to fewer turnovers under Tebow than Orton. Not all, but some.

But you know, as crappy as Tebow is, he was the better QB today, statistically even.

He accounted for 210 yards on 40 combined passes/runs (5.25 per). Rivers accounted for 187 on 37 (5.05 per).

And now they have hapless Minnesota probably without Peterson and Chicago without Cutler on the horizon, so they could have two more games where they need 17 points to win. Then they face New England.

I still give more credit to the Denver defense.

Note to the Democrat party: your best argument for socialism is Tyler Palko. No one can make the argument that he deserves to keep his paycheck.

How the hell this guy ever became a starting QB is absolutely beyond me. There are people in the parking lot before the game that are better than this clown.

The one thing that I give credit to Tebow for regarding the defense is the commitment to the run seems to (and I haven't checked stats on this so I could be wrong) keep the defense off the field more in regards to total number of plays, and, when coupled with a decrease in turnovers, is putting them in a better position throughout the game.

Maybe. Even if the TOP numbers have changed, that could be chicken and egg. The defense still has to be good enough to get off the field quickly without allowing points. To really give this proper treatment, you'd have to look at how the defense played before and after the bye, competition dependent.

It could be the defense is just better now. It could also go back to turnovers moreso than just TOP.

I will say the TOP is much different than it was the first time against the Chargers. But that's just one game.

Tebow has GOD on his side. Praise Jesus and ye shall inherit the land of o holy hosanna!
