Our Deacs just won a "ho-hum" 2nd round ACCT game against the Orange, and apparently, under the rules of the tournament, WF now advances to play the #1 seed 24-6 (15-5) Miami Hurricanes on Thursday. The winner of this game will advance to something called the "ACC Semifinals" -- a place which WF is not recently familiar. Here is a link the previous breakdown of the Canes .
On February 18th, WF lost 96-87 to Miami. In that game, Isaiah Wong led Miami with 27. They shot 62% from 2 and 50% from three and scored 1.27 point per possession. WF shot 15-35 from three (43%) and scored 1.14 points per possession (which is solid). WF took 35 threes and only 23 twos (WF shot a blistering 74% from two), but turned it over 19 times (Tyree had 12 alone - yikes). Deacs will need to play much better defense, and protect the ball (duh) to have a chance.
Projection: KP projects a 83-78 Canes win in 72 possessions. WF has now gone under in every game (5 for 5) since Monsanto went down; so, if you thought.... "WF will score fewer points without Damari Monsanto" and simply bet $100 on the under on each post injury game and rolled it over since February 18th, you would have $1600 right now. Will the under streak continue? We shall see.
