Men's Golf

Nobody going to feel too bad for Klempton with the Stanford eagle possibly knocking them out of it.

Glad to know everyone here not rooting for the conference and not doing the ACC chant and not minding one bit if everyone else in the ACC is on the outside looking in ...

Nobody here feels bad about SMU taking out Klempton in the playoff

They are taught that in AJGA golf now. First to hole out is supposed to proceed to next tee and be ready to play, next gets the pin. Final player finishes the hole. It's done wonders for pace of play at AJGA events.

What if the final player has the honors?

Doesn't matter in AJGA. The first player to the tee hits as soon as the fairway/green is clear, which moves play along more quickly. It's similar to what us weekenders call "ready golf."

The Deacons justify their #3 ranking by ending stroke play in third place. All of the top five finishers are teams ranked in the top 6. Kudos to Lee Detmer on an outstanding tourney. The senior steps up.

Question. What is the rationale for switching from stroke play to match play to determine the championship? They seem to be very different games. Seems odd to make a switch after an entire season of stroke play has determined the quality of teams. The results of the first four days of the tourney mirror the rankings. It works out well for the Deacs, they still have an opportunity to win a championship.

The SMU player double crossed his second shot on 15 much worse than Bags but he had a much easier drop. The Clemptsun player bogied, however. The Clemptsun and SMU played much worse than our girls down the stretch and in the playoff. Maybe some guys will finally drop the “choke” BS.

Did Billy Satterfield design this course? This course is Olde Beau less the beautiful views.

22 don't you think Olde Beau was tougher back in the day before they changed a couple of the holes? Still love playing there even with the changes. My normal round there is 75 from the blues.

My default assumption for any change made in the way college sports are conducted is tv money. WF basketball no longer plays NC State to close the season because tv wants a say in scheduling, for example.

I would guess that the Golf Channel would prefer a match play final vs the OK State runaway that would have happened had it been decided by stroke play.

Matches:
4. Fitz (+4) vs 4. Shimp (+7)
5. Detmer (-2) vs. 3. Snyder (+20)
3. Chacarra (+9) vs 1. Salinas (E)
2. Bae (+21) vs 2. Wu (+16)
1. Young (+16) vs 5. Tuleubayev (+18)

Is there any general strategy for picking matchups)
