NHL Thread

Just watched on recording this afternoon. That was an ass beating. Two games where nj had no answers. They had some life in the first but once those two penalties were killed it incl a few seconds of 5 on 3 it was game over.

Idk what the first two games of the NYR series looked like (other than the scores) and whether they were similarly lost before turning it on, so I’m not counting them out yet.
 
Man some of these games are big snoozefests, either to watch or because they're blowouts.

First period of the Stars game the other night was terrible. Just two teams who looked like they were skating in mud. More scoring the last two periods, but pretty much ugly hockey throughout.
 
How the hell did the Oilers manage to find 2 of these guys? Jesus.
 
5 top 3 picks in six years and four of those were the #1 overall pick -- at least they hit on two of 'em!

I don't think VGK is good enough to hang with these guys, certainly will be interesting to see them come against a more solid defensive team (and that has more firepower/better goaltending than the Kings did)
 
Could tell Freddie didn't have it today, didn't look comfortable in any regard.

Showing some signs of last year's Boston series in terms of the home team utterly dominating

But Canes have been ringing posts all game long with 3 of them and counting.
 
Today was a rough one. We looked like one of the games late in the season when we were really trying to hold off NJ for the Division and we would just whiff on shots, misplace passes, shank open goals, hit 10 posts, just nothing went our way. Gotta hope we can grab the fire again Tuesday and put them on their heels. If we come back to PNC with the series tied and off 2 straight losses, IDK if we can shake it off. Luckily we have a great home ice advantage.

As far as scheduling, anyone else notice that we're the only 2nd round series that doesn't get an extra day break anywhere in the series? All 3 other series have a 2 day break built in at some point. Not sure that it matters, but feels off.

Any predictions on the Lottery tomorrow night?

Columbus drops from 2 to 4 as a result of the lottery. That's a lock.

The NHL would prefer that no series receive 2 day breaks, but they have to work around the respective arena availabilities (and for planning purposes, though it didn't come to fruition since Boston and Colorado lost Game 7's, the fact that the NBA has scheduling priority for their playoff games). That's one of the reasons why it took so long for the NHL Round 2 schedule to come out, they were shifting events around and trying to force Seattle and Dallas to play on back-to-back nights in their series.
 
Also Elliotte Friedman was saying the Panthers really raised a stink about playing home games on the same day as the Heat were at home, so that created some shuffling
