Nikita Whitlock

What most Defensive Tackles do at 315 pounds, Nikita does that and then some at 250 pounds.

Mike Olsen made a great comment in which I believe. To paraphrase he said football is changing and that Nikita and his motor is at the forefront of this.

With more running QB s in the NFL. Lateral quickness is very important for d linemen. I view Nikita much like having to play against Muggsy.

Inwill never forget when Muggsy guarded Len Bias man to man and held him to a really low number. Strength and quickness.

I know on paper it doesn't make sense that he would make it in the NFL, but I really believe he will land on someone's roster. His motor and heart are too rare to ignore. Olson's comments were accurate. The game is changing and as was aforementioned, Nikita's smallness could become an advantage.

Nikita is one of those players that, to me at least, embodies what is great about Wake Forest. I always have a soft spot for the undersized castaways like he and Barclay that make the most of their opportunity here. I was skeptical like everyone else when we signed him, but it has been a joy to watch him play.

Also add Jax Landfried

We put in Jalen Latter to get a carry yesterday. Yet we didnt play Wilhite or Martin. Sketchy.

I wonder what Nikita's true measurements are. No way he is 5-11.

and from the Washington Post write up of the game, I give you the following quote. Somebody in DC may need new glasses. ( I highlighted the really good stuff).

"The Demon Deacons (4-3, 3-2 ACC) controlled the game in its entirety, from the first snap, when mammoth nose tackle Nikita Whitlock burst up the middle and sacked quarterback C.J. Brown for a 15-yard loss, to the final whistle, when Maryland (5-2, 1-2 ACC) trudged off BB&T Field with substantially fewer numbers than when it entered."

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Nikita got drafted in the 5th-7th round and got converted to a third down rusher as an outside linebacker or something. He clearly won't play DT or NG in the NFL, but with his speed and knowledge of the game there's likely a spot somewhere.

Got to think there is a place for him on special teams somewhere. Hell, the skins would take him as a full time special teamer right now if he was available. You can't teach heart + motor.

yea this is my thought, too. special teams seems like a likely spot if he is gonna land on an NFL roster.

I too think Nikita might just find some Sunday work as situational pass rusher and special teams guy. His speed, quickness and tackling ability would make him an asset to any coverage team. His ability to get by the big linemen, even when they are keying on him, will get him some looks as a pass rushing specialist.

Adjust your sarcasm meter, that terminology was tongue in cheek.

I actually really like the idea of him as a NFL FB. Dude would light some people up in the gaps.

The problem is the smaller roster in the NFL demands everyone be able to contribute somehow to the 2-deep.
