Non-Political Coronavirus Thread

I'm in the Pfizer trial. I was speaking with the supervising physician about this point, and he said that it's a huge logistical hurdle, because "just add dry ice to a medical facility" is a giant jump in demand for dry ice. Also, having an area to store it in volume is a pain in the ass.

I could totally see it being by appointment only, where the Pfizer vaccine is kept in a central location in each state, then people make appointments on a certain day of the week/month, and that's when the vaccine is going to be distributed. It just doesn't make sense to have it on standby for whenever.

Looks like a good time to buy stock in dry ice companies.

What a terrible article and premise. I went to the Barrington website. It claims to have the signatures of 11,000 medical practitioners, which means it has been signed by fewer than 0.01% of practitioners worldwide. Even more problematic, the website does not verify the identity of those claiming to be medical practitioners, so it includes the following names: Dr Person Fakename, Dr Very Dodgy Doctor, Mr Banana Rama, Professor Ita Rôle Italy Pudding, Dr Johnny Fartpants, Professor Notaf Uckingclue, etc.

It took me less than 2 minutes to find this information. Please think about what you post, and don't spread terrible information.

*nonpolitically of course.

Dr Uckingclue is very talented but the point still stands.

Leftys would never use fake names to try to discredit something. Of course not.

What's the problem with the Barrington Declaration itself (other than that some people want to sabotage it)?

And rightys would never add fake Dr's to bolster their fake claims about the dastardly dem corona hoax.

The main problem with the declaration is that it argues for herd immunity. Currently, about 4% of Americans have been infected, so for 60% to be infected we would expect for 3-4 million Americans to die. If we really are months from a vaccine, then this would be a massive, unnecessary loss of life.

There are of course other issues with the declaration, such as it being unrealistic (it suggests only those previously infected work in nursing homes) and it doesn’t promote the most effective methods to date (masks and distancing).

Why would Republicans rather kill millions of Americans than wear a mask and social distance?

Non-politically of course.

The linked Fox News article also claimed that Sweden has had the best COVID response, which is a really odd claim that has become a strange rallying cry of the far right wing over the past few months. Do they not realize the socialist governmental model of Sweden? More importantly, do they not realize the death rate is much higher in Sweden than other Scandinavian countries? And cases are now rising again in Sweden. It has far from the best COVID response (just look at their neighbors, or Germany, New Zealand, Taiwan, etc).

Poor sailor. He's dying to get out of his assisted living facility.

More than one way to read this. Non politically of course.

I'd like to take a minute to just remind "everyone" that had dear leader's response been non political the lockdown would have been more successful, fewer people would be dead, our worst days would be behind us, and we would be far better prepared for the second wave rather than the never ending wave we are currently experiencing.
